Damn, Memphis seems rolling into form right now, this team is solidly built for postseason. :wow

26-10 Memphis, 1st Q end.

sorry, make it 29-10 then. :lol

Pathetic. Mavs are like the loser who actually gets to fuck a hot bitch, but when he realizes he's actually fucking a hot bitch, goes soft.

Mavs are doing this on purpose. What other explanation is there?

They're on the same plan Grizz were last year.

Robz4000

It's not the Grizz looking impressive, it's more of the Mavs looking like shit. Wouldn't be surprised if they were tanking though.

If the Grizzlies were an above average offensive team, there would be no way the Mavericks would still be in this game.

A double digit lead is not safe when the Grizzlies have it.

I will never understand why the Grizzlies continues to leave the opposing teams best shooters (like Jason Terry in this game for example) wide open for 3s.

I'd prefer Grizzlies over Mavs, tbh.

they losing it deliberately to get the 8th seed so they can play em spurs in the 1st round and win tbh

I honestly think they would take us, but the series would be a nailbiter b/c we matchup much better.

I can't see why anyone would be afraid of either of these teams in the playoffs. They both look like shit tonight in what should be a "playoff atmosphere".

Both of these teams are damn good. Dallas, as much as everyone says they struggle are never out of any game and their defense can lock people up. They struggle to score at times, but Dirk is still sick.

But Memphis is the real deal. The only reason they're the 5th seed is because of injuries. They have a great frontline and loads of depth on the perimeter. I do think if Duncan can regain 60% of his prime like he has in recent weeks and Popovich commits to Splitter, the Spurs aren't all that overmatched on the inside. Memphis will still have a slight edge there, but the Spurs are deeper on the perimeter, which I hope would equalize that disadvantage.

Spurs in 7.

But if Pop overplays Blair and Bonner, it could get ugly.

We also have to remember that Randolph isn't anywhere close to the player he was in last year's playoffs yet. Memphis's vaunted interior is actually quite mediocre when he's not playing at an all-star level, which he hasn't the past couple of weeks. If he can't summon last year's form, Memphis is a second round team at best.

Randolph still does well enough in the limited minutes he gets off the bench. He has another 3 or so weeks to get into form too.

How often/how many minutes do Duncan and Splitter get together though, b/c that's what it's going to take. You saw last year that either Gasol or Randolph would take turns dominating the turd towers--and as the series went on Duncan eventually tired out and got manhandled too.

If they don't already play significant minutes together then that could disrupt chemistry when they're forced too. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Grizzlies are probably the only team in the league where a 19 point 2nd quarter lead is a 1 point lead or a deficit in the 3rd quarter.

The stupid thing is that Splitter's game isn't dramatically different from Blair's, who Duncan plays alongside frequently, so he should fit in nicely next to Tim.

Don't get Pop's aversion to playing those two significant minutes together.

People expecting Dallas to "turn it on" because they are the defending champs are just as delusional as some Laker fans were last year. I didnt expect a 2nd round sweep ..who did?
But I knew last year's squad wasnt likely winning shit. Lakers aint winning it this year and neither are Mavs ...

Well, Memphis is indeed rounding into form as a post season threat, though not so much of a championship contender. Another playoff victim tonite, the defending champ which played with so little urgency (tanking for the 8th spot ? They might tank into the lottery as well then).
