Gregg Popovich was in fine form during pregame interview. Said he might change Spurs' starting lineup tonight. Asked who, he wouldn't budge.

AH I see all the other armchair coaches who have been wanting to see this actually already knew why it was not going to happen.

...I believe there was a poster who already showed that it's possible to start Splitter and still allow him to play with the second unit.

The issue is probably that Pop doesn't like either of them at the 4 which is a decision that many posters still disagree with.

You can respect the coach's accomplishments and credentials without blindly agreeing with everything he does. :rolleyes

This just got a little more interesting. Diaw into the starting line up (whether or not permanent) will give the Spurs a new look. It won't be entirely new, but Diaw basically does most everything decently better (outside of overall rebounding probably when Blair is peaking) than Blair (defense, passing, handles, shooting...).

Spurs Brazil
04-08-2012, 05:53 PM
JMcDonald_SAEN Stat monitors show Boris Diaw starting for DeJuan Blair. Unofficial, but interesting if it sticks. Blair only Spur to start all 50 so far.

JMcDonald_SAEN Pop's pregame pow-wow included hint starting lineup might change, but no specifics. Doesn't always mean anything, but might tonight.

1% of me feels sorry for Blair because the Spurs have done so well with him as a starter ... both this year and last year.

But everything points to him being the weak link and that the Spurs will be a much better team with him coming off the bench. So the other 99% of me hopes this lineup change is permanent.

As a member of the church of Diaw, I'll try not to get too excited, who knows, maybe Blair just ate too much chocolate and has an upset stomach.

But this is the starting 5 I've been hoping for. I actually think that this is a better option than Tiago starting.

It adds a great secondary playmaker to take defensive pressure off of Parker and it's a big upgrade defensively.

Seriously though, I hope it's nothing serious. Been way too many people getting hurt this year.

Seeing Diaw play with Duncan makes it much more difficult for me to complain about Tiago not. Although I still think that lineup should've had some preparation this year. We could've called the duo TnT.

True. True. I'm much happier with Diaw than I thought I'd be.

The Tim&Tiago lineup does still need work though imo because we'll probably need it later on and it'll make it easy for Pop to run a 3.5 big rotation in the playoffs...

Jackson not playing at all makes me think it's pretty much a lock that Manu will sit out tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if Pop sat out the entire big three, tbh.

If he does, I think it's the wrong move. Should've sat Tim today.

I like the variety personally

I wish they did it so one announcer was for the home team and one was for the away team

course i guess booth chemistry could be an issue...

but the memphis announcers are the worst in the nba

jazz are solid thus far
