Long, but interesting read:

Enjoyed the article. Reinforces my desire that Wanger be canned at the end of the year (But only if a suitable candidate can be found...Not an easy task)

I was pretty excited when my phone started blowing up with this news.

Almost seems to good to be true, which means it probably is. Oh well.

Hell, I'd even be willing to keep Wenger around if he had all the funds he needed to keep and buy players

Leaked Arsenal home, away and 3rd kits for the 2013/14 season.

The kits are actually quite nice, especially now that I am used to the stripe that we have on the arm of the kit this season. I guess that I could get used to a stripe across the shirt. I presume that the white kit is the away kit and the blue kit of the 3rd kit, but I am not 100% sure.

Rumors going around that Wilshere is out of the season with ligament issues on his ankle(s?). The Arsenal fan in me is pissed...the other part of me that wants changes and out of the CL for next year is bittersweet about this news. Guess we'll find out how severe his ankles issue is. He's already out for the CL game against Bayern apparently.

There are an avalanche of articles proclaiming Jovetic to Arsenal this summer, including lots of quotes from the man himself about how much he would love to play there. I sure hope it comes to fruition...

Arsenal is also going to need another central defender as well as another defensive midfielder (and maybe a keeper as well). Let's hope that fucker (Wanger) is either fired or given the funds to make shit happen, while also preventing other teams from pilfering what little top talent remains

RAMSEY’S PROGRESS :: THE PEOPLE, THEY SPEAK (http://arseblog.com/2013/04/ramseys-progress-the-people-they-speak/)

http://arseblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ramsey.jpg (http://arseblog.com/2013/04/ramseys-progress-the-people-they-speak/)

Morning, it’s another quiet day in a quiet week, the only things going on are Theo Walcott calling for more consistency (I know, right!), and Aaron Ramsey hailing Arsene Wenger’s influence (http://news.arseblog.com/2013/04/upbeat-ramsey-hails-wenger-influence/) on his career. I like the Welshman, I have to say, I think there’s something lurking under the surface. Whether we ever get to see it is unclear, but in recent months he’s certainly added some consistency to his game, and has played his way through a difficult patch.
I don’t think we should underestimate the difficulty of doing that, especially when there was a section of fans who blamed him for everything that went wrong. Were he still playing poorly I suspect he’d be at fault for the North Korean nuclear crisis, bank crashes, political corruption and the fact that Community just isn’t funny without Dan Harmon. It does take some character to do that.
I can clearly remember posting a team line-up on Twitter and the reaction to Ramsey’s inclusion was for some people to reply to me wishing he would die. Genuinely. I know it’s a tiny minority, but still. Those are not sentiments expressed by any real fan, I realise that, but they were also expressed directly at him during his brief sojourn on Twitter. Rightly enough he decided it wasn’t a place he should be spending much time and knocked it on the head, but it’d certainly colour your view of your club’s supporters if they were wishing you death.
I don’t think he was done any real favours when thrust into the gaping chasm left by Cesc last season. It was too much, too soon, and a player, as we know, can become a lightning rod for criticism which should be better directed elsewhere. I believe that was the case with him, it badly affected his confidence and form, and lest we forget it was his first full season after being Shawcrossed.
I’m glad he’s got his head down, worked hard and showed that he can be a valuable squad player. And while you can make the argument that he’s not the new Fabregas, I’d posit that he’s a decent squad player with the potential to become a bit more than that. He’s versatile, works his arse off, technically very good (although I’d like to see a few fewer flicks and back-heels), and I think he’ll get better.
Even if he doesn’t become the greatest midfielder in the world, every squad needs players like him. Guys who are consistent, who’ll give you 100%, and who can do a job when starting or coming on as a sub. Decent, honest professionals who add depth to the panel the manager has to choose from. He’s one of those, and he’s got the chance to progress further, let’s hope he takes it. It can only be good for Arsenal if he does.

Arsenal record bid for £30m Gotze as Wenger brings on kids (again)

Arsene Wenger is embarking on a twin strategy to revive Arsenal this summer by making a club record £30million bid for Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze while promoting a clutch of promising youngsters.
Wenger is ready to spend the £70m transfer fund at his disposal but that figure also has to cover the wages of new players, with Dortmund's 20-year-old attacking midfielder the prime target.
Gotze has a £30m buyout clause which would allow him to leave if a club make a bid to that value - and Arsenal are ready to do so.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/04/14/article-2308673-1912BDC5000005DC-555_468x361.jpgTarget: Mario Gotze is a target for Arsenal boss Wenger

Wenger is also considering a £10m move for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue and he wants to sign a keeper, with Liverpool's Pepe Reina the strongest candidate.
The expected outlay marks a huge departure of policy for Arsenal, but Wenger will continue to promote youngsters.
Gedion Zelalem, a 16-year-old German with an Ethiopian father, has been training with the first team and is expected to be promoted to the squad next season.
Hector Bellerin, an 18-year-old right-back from Barcelona, and Serge Gnabry, a 17-year-old midfielder from Stuttgart, are also likely to be fast-tracked.
But it is Zelalem, discovered playing high school football in the USA, who will attract most attention as he is likely to emulate Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere by making his debut in the Capital One Cup team next season.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/04/13/article-0-1946E870000005DC-755_468x343.jpgThe new Fabregas: Gedion Zelalem in action for Arsenal under-21s

Zelalem was not even attached to a professional side when he was spotted by Arsenal's US scout, Danny Karbassiyoon, but plays in the same position as Wilshere and Fabregas.
His father - Zelalem Woldyes - was granted asylum in Germany, where his son was born.
Though the youngster was enrolled in Hertha Berlin's youth programme, the family moved to Washington DC in 2006, where he was playing for Walter Johnson High School when he came to Arsenal's attention.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/04/13/article-0-1946E843000005DC-549_468x286.jpgImpressive debut: Gedion Zelalem takes the field

Zelalem made an impressive debut for Arsenal in the Under-21 team against Liverpool on Monday.
Arsenal youth coach Steve Gatting said: 'He came out of it with a lot of credit.
He's only 16 and that was the first game he's played for the club at a competitive level, and what a place to make your debut. 'He came out of it well.
He's got a bit of presence on the pitch.' Zelalem has been selected for Germany at youth team level but has also trained with the USA, where he is applying for citizenship.

The new Fabregas?Gedion Zelalem plays in the same midfield position as Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fabregas and could take the same route into the Arsenal side, via the Capital One Cup.

Zelalem , 16, was born in Germany after his Ethiopian father was given asylum.

His mother died in 2005 and the family moved the next year to America, where he was discovered playing for Walter Johnson High School.

Another article on Zelalem

http://news.arseblog.com/2013/04/early-indications-suggest-zelalem-can-live-up-to-the-hype/

Zelalem certainly didn’t disappoint. Despite the Gunners suffering a 3-2 defeat in an enthralling encounter which renders very difficult their chances of progressing to the end of season play-offs, Zelalem was an extremely calm presence on the ball throughout, frequently dictating play from his role as Arsenal’s most advanced midfielder. An extremely skilful player, one through ball he played to fellow German youth international Serge Gnabry was particularly notable in portraying his vision and commendable ability to wriggle his way out of the most difficult situations.
It wasn’t all perfect- with Zelalem evidently tiring late on (understandably so given his lack of game-time in recent weeks) and also hitting a few mis-placed passes, but the early evidence was extremely encouraging for the future, and the fact that he was selected from the start for the U21s, having not yet featured at U18 level, speaks volumes of how highly he is regarded within the club, as does the fact that he has trained with the first-team on several occasions this season, increasingly so in recent weeks.

I hate Wenger quotes. It's always empty promises, reassurance for whoever feels like jumping ship and quotes to save his ass. in FIFA 13, when United scores a late goal to tie or win, the commentator says " United has done it late in the game - I want to say - ... again "

- I've watched a few Newcastle games since Ba left, they are still fun to watch; they have added Cissokho, Cabaye, Gouffran etc ... nice little team

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Premier League club are in 'advanced' talks over Auxerre starlet Yaya Sanogo.

The highly-rated striker, 20, has scored nine goals in just 11 league appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit.

He current deal expires this summer and reports in France have claimed that he has shunned offers from a host of clubs in his homeland by agreeing a four-year deal with the Gunners.

However, Wenger has insisted a deal is not yet concluded for the France Under-21 international, but admitted it was close.

"It is in the advanced stages but it is not done," he said, when asked about Sanogo.

If, as expected, Arsenal conclude a deal then they would be due to pay Auxerre compensation as Sanogo is under 23.

My player of the year, easy

Mert/Koscielny look really solid in the back, about as good as any central combo in the EPL for the last 3 months/Consider selling Verms and replacing with someone cheaper but with equal talents

Get a solid backup for Jenks, who should now start/sell Sagna (love BS but its time to move on)

Get Chez a viable backup at GK

Get a World Class ST

Midfield depth

Sell DIaby

Other than Sagna/Verms/Diaby, I don't see Wanger getting rid of anyone else (that plays regularly). Its a pretty manageable situation since the core of the team shouldn't depart, so adding should be that much easier.

Prospects heading into next year are looking up, regardless if MU/MC/Che go on a drunken buying spree. Gunner nucleus is proven and should only improve as they get a second year together. Add depth along with a difference maker up front, and I believe you have a team with a legit shot at not only the EPL, but the CL also

But i'm sure something(s) bad will happen and I'll be back here next year dreaming those big dreams about silverware :cry

Gremio have confirmed that on-loan defender Andre Santos will return to parent club Arsenal as they cannot afford a permanent deal.
The 30-year-old signed joined the Gunners from Fenerbahce in August 2011 for a fee in the region of 7million euros (£5.9million).
However, he struggled to establish himself in the first team at the Emirates, making just 13 starts in 18 months at the club.
The Sao Paulo-born full-back secured a return to his homeland when he signed a short-term deal with Gremio back in February.
That deal is set to expire in July and the Brazilian club have confirmed they do not intend to turn the move permanent.
"We signed Andre Santos for Copa Libertadores and his contract expires in July," Gremio's director of football Marcos Chitolina told UOL.
"It would be too expensive for Gremio to renew his contract; he is a very expensive player.
"We thank him for everything he has done, but we will keep Alex Telles and Fabio Aurelio."

Arsenal's Bacary Sagna and Laurent Koscielny hint at moving on to win trophies4 Jun 2013 22:30 (http://www.mirror.co.uk/by-date/04-06-2013)Full-back admits it hurts to keep watching other clubs lift silverware year after year, while centre-half talks of looking elsewhere

http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1571486.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Arsenal-v-Stoke-City--Premier-League-1571486.jpgLooking ahead: Koscielny wants to add to his collection of medals... somewhere
Michael Regan

Bacary Sagna and Laurent Koscielny are both making noises about leaving Arsenal for clubs that can win silverware.
Right-back Sagna, a summer target for Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, moved to Arsenal for £6million in 2007.
The Gunners haven't tasted success in any competition since the 2005 FA Cup Final.
Now, with one year left on his contract, 30-year-old France international Sagna admitted there could be a change this summer (http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/arsenal%20transfer%20news): "To see others win and lift trophies, honestly, that hurts.
"It's six years I've been at Arsenal now and I will remain focused on my club, but I don't know [about my future].
"There's going to be speculation, that is certain. I'm no longer young therefore I'm thinking about it, because I would really like to win something.
"Whether that is with Arsenal or another club, I would like to win a title."
Sagna missed Euro 2012 after breaking his leg in the last game of the season and is determined to feature in next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Asked about a move home to France, he said: "It's possible. I have a contract until June 2014. There have been discussions but I have not yet renewed my contract.
"I'm talking about it. I'm not at a bad club. I will have to see what conditions, in a sporting sense, they propose. I would not leave to go to whatever club.
http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1830186.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Arsenal-v-Norwich-City-Premier-League-1830186.jpgHeading off? Sagna has been linked with clubs back home in France
Mike Hewitt
"If I stay at Arsenal, I will try to have a good season. If I have to leave, it will be a new challenge.
"There is a World Cup at the end."
Sagna's fellow defender Koscielny, meanwhile, "feels good" at the Emirates, but admits he may have to move on if the club cannot end their trophy drought.
The 27-year-old, a 2010 signing from French side Lorient, told Eurosport: "Psychologically, it is hard. We are always under pressure - a season without the Champions League for Arsenal is catastrophic.
"I have the desire to add to my list of honours. I hope the club will give me the means.
"If this weren't the case, I'd look elsewhere."

not a bad thing, imo, to have players putting the club on blast. Puts more pressure to spend money on good players

Sagna is gone anyway, so wgaf what he has to say.

Koscielny leaving would be tough but not catastrophic, especially if someone like Bayern wanted to overpay for him. Verm isn't going anywhere and should see a return to form next season, tbh

That being said, I doubt he leaves

Fellaini... He's such a powerful presence in midfield. I'm cautiously optimistic that Giroud can develop into a good Striker, although he'll never be on par with RVP

Fellatio tbh. Besides the things already mentioned, Fellaini would give Arsenal an air attack that they haven't had since forever. Arsenal now would be scoring from set pieces instead of getting scored from set pieces... and he would probably help in that department as well.

Fellaini & Higuain both would be solid signings for arsenal imho, but Wenger will back off seeing the price tag of Fellaini. Also, Real selling Higuain cheap is a clear sign of some blockbusting transfer going to happen. Rumor in the street is Madrid will send Ronaldo back to Old Traford for Rooney + 30m cash, and the Higuain deal is just a prelude to the Rooney-Ronaldo swap imho

Prof. Wenger finally opens his bank account it seems. Had they made these moves one year ago they would've kept RvP, and if two years ago they would of kept Cesc. Fellaini + Higuain would make it a great summer for Arsenal fans but they're still nothing close to RvP + Cesc imho, the more I think about this the more I feel sad for them. Arsenal will be back in the title contention next season but Chelsea will eventually win it with the special one back being their coach. Moyes is a good coach but he's gonna need some time to build his own Manchester United, it's still fergie's team in some way and you can't expect someone else to lead Fergie's team to glory imho

Am I the only one who thinks there's a lot of similarities between Arsenal and the SA Spurs?

Manager/coach who's been there for an eternity.
Fans like to use the mantra "In Pop/Wenger we trust"
Both teams are always good but haven't won shit for a while.
Both teams played low-scoring, hard nosed defensive games until recently when both became a little more offense oriented and defense improved after style change
Teams are used as leverage by agents for players, fans get excited Player X is showing interest, never comes
Teams are always "classy" therefore fans should follow suit. Don't you dare not be classy.

:lol maybe I'm reaching but it's some of the shit I've noticed

Living in England there are some major differences.

1.) Neutral fans usually hate Arsenal, compared to most neutrals liking SA Spurs in basketball

2.) Arsenal are constantly in the limelight, where as SA go unnoticed majority of the time.

That game meant nothing, we were 99% relegated already. Where as the previous one ended Arsenal's title hopes for another year.

3 goals in final 10 minutes to win 3-2 :lol

And according to Sky Sport, Higuain will be official tomorrow

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/04/gonzalo-higuain-arsenal-deal-close

Higuaín is expected to sign a three-year deal on £100,000 a week, putting him among the club's top earners, and Arsenal remain keen to pair him up front with Wayne Rooney should Manchester United be willing to let him go.

----------------

That would be incredible, to have Shrek there with Higuain.

Even if Rooney is really as unhappy at United as some reports indicate, I find it hard to imagine he would want to come to Arsenal.

Yeah, I give Rooney coming 5-10% chance of happening. I think we have enough forwards, Higuain/Podolski should be formidable. Giroud should be a situational sub, tbh.

Rooney would fit in Arsenal's system only if he loses the fat TBH

Arsenal plays an uptempo style

no way Rooney becomes a Gunner...0% chance of that happening

I would imagine that 3/yr, 100k, is inaccurate for GH. He's gotta be making more at Real, and I highly doubt he'll take a cut to play at Arsenal. I'm guessing it'll be more like 120-130 over 4+ years

He's a very good player, I just don't see how he fits with Arsenal. Highly doubt MU would sell to Arsenal, anyway. PSG is his likeliest destination should he actually leave, imho (and I still doubt he leaves)
