How is it that an NBA player of his caliber and tenure still can't dribble worth a damn?

He had the same problem in 2003, I always cringed when he was doing something other than shooting 3's in the playoffs. He has gotten alot better since then but is still prone to the occasional high dribble and turnover.

:lol well said

Jack has a love-hate relationship with the ball. Every year he's been in the league, Jack turns the ball over and then steals it or vice versa. It's a vicious cycle.

Yes, I felt the same way and always noticed his handles were horrible lol! He is a competitor and a good ballplayer, but his handles are bad.

He has gotten better since then though, wow he was bad then.

back in 2003, the line on SJax was that "he keeps both teams in the game."

He has certainly improved on RBs, AST, defense. His shooting %age has always sucked.

The Stephen Jackson conundrum is he sucks at dribbling but he's great at passing off the dribble. It makes for an entertaining adventure when he decides to put the ball on the floor.

Typical outburst my wife hears from me during a Spurs game: "Yes!!!!! Noooooooo, Stephennnnnnn!"

I always sigh when he tries to dribble between his legs, 9/10 he messes up and it throws the possession off as he tries to adjust.

He suffers from Dr J syndrome....

He's like 6'8", few players that size dribble well enough to drive.

He can attack the basket 20x better than RJ ever did while a Spur though... sure, it's painful to watch, but he's not afraid and he's good at creating contact and getting to the line.

People are surprised that Jackson is a turnover machine? He was the same way the first time around. Unfortuantely, many of his turnovers aren't even forced. They're just really bad passes that are easily picked off.

Perhaps Jefferson lost games because he was too passive. Jackson could potentially lose games for being too aggressive.

Jackson gives me heart palpitations while dribbling.

With Jefferson, he was just flat out scared to try.
Jackson just does not care.

I think Tim actually has great hands on the dribble. The ball just stays in the air way too long when one is so tall. People can crawl between his legs as well.

Leonard has been the pleasant surprise. He is not going to break ankles so he is very parsimonious in his use of it and seems to know what he is capable of. Except for that crazy behind the back between the legs through people accident.
