Dude could fly, had superhuman strength. The only thing that could hurt him...fire. He gets no respect at all.

The Martian Manhunter debuted in the back-up story "The Strange Experiment of Dr. Erdel (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dr._Erdel&action=edit&redlink=1)" in Detective Comics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detective_Comics) #225 (Nov. 1955), written by Joseph Samachson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Samachson) and illustrated by Joe Certa; the character is a green-skinned extraterrestrial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraterrestrials_in_fiction) humanoid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanoid) from the planet Mars, who is pulled to earth by an experimental teleportation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleportation) beam (originally presented as an attempted communication device) constructed by Dr. Saul Erdel. The Martian tells Erdel where he is from, and is told to send him back will require the Computer Brain's thinking plot to be changed. The shock of the encounter kills Dr. Erdel and leaves J'onn with no method of returning home. The character decides to fight crime while waiting for Martian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian) technology to advance to a stage that will enable his rescue. To that end, he adopts the identity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_disguise) of John Jones, a detective in the fictional Middletown, U.S.A.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_Manhunter#cite_note-2) He is thought to have been inspired by a story in Batman #78 where a Martian Lawman comes to Earth and teams up with Batman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman) and Robin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_(comics)) to capture the Stranger, a Martian criminal called Quork who has stolen a spaceship and come to Earth.
During this period, the character and his back story differ in some minor and some significant ways from modern treatments. Firstly, as with his counterpart, the Silver Age (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Age_of_Comic_Books) Superman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman), his power range is poorly defined, and his powers expand over time as the plot demands. The addition of precognitive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precognition) abilities (Detective Comics #226) are quickly followed by telepathy and flight,[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_Manhunter#cite_note-3)[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_Manhunter#cite_note-4) "Atomic vision", super-hearing,[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_Manhunter#cite_note-5) and many other powers. In addition, his customary weakness to fire is only manifested when he is in his native Martian form.
A more significant difference is that at this time, there is no suggestion that Mars is a dead planet or that the character is the last of his kind. Many of the tales of the time feature either Martian technology or the appearance of other Martian characters, Detective Comics #236 (October 1956), for example, features the character making contact with the planet Mars and his parents.

While in high school he ran a 4.33. Coming up just short of the 4.32 school record held by Xzulio Dazuio. Dazuio would go on to become the Martian National record holder while at Zuloz State. His 4.11 still stands.

You'd have to put Aquaman in with Jones, Green Arrow and Green Lantern as cool until they got around a real Superhero like Batman. Then they were relinquished to the role of more of a sidekick.

I sold all my comic books. Probably had about 500 or so. Totally stupid thing to do...DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John Jones never had (unless he got one later) his own comic, he was an afterthought. Short story in the back pages of a Batman/Superman. Hence...no respect. Only Superman among the DC heros could have kicked his ass.

Been into music as far back as I can remember. I'm also a big junk store/thrift shop/yard sale freak. I was left a ton of stuff by a grandfather who owned a used record shop. I have friends who have downloaded/recorded stuff for me. I get a ton of stuff off the computor. I was hitting Borders once a week for years buying stuff.
I'm pushing 33, I 'm guessing...6000ish records/tapes/CD's. Knowing what I just told you how much music would you say was more realistic?
I have cassette tapes stored away in boxes I haven't heard in years. Tons and tons of stuff.

It was not until a decade later that the album started to receive almost unanimous praise by numerous rock critics, many of whom made particular note of its influence in modern rock music. In April 2003, Spin led their "Top Fifteen Most Influential Albums of All Time" list with the album.[16] On November 12, 2000, NPR included it in their "NPR 100" series of "the most important American musical works of the 20th century".[17]Rolling Stone placed it at number 13 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in November 2003, calling it "the most prophetic rock album ever made."[1]
In 1997, Velvet Underground & Nico was named the 22nd greatest album of all time in a Music of the Millennium poll conducted in the United Kingdom by HMV Group, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM. In his 1995 book, The Alternative Music Almanac, Alan Cross placed the album in the #1 spot on the list of '10 Classic Alternative Albums'. In 2006, Q magazine readers voted it into 42nd place in the "2006 Q Magazine Readers' 100 Greatest Albums Ever" poll, while The Observer placed it at number 1 in a list of "50 Albums That Changed Music"[18] in the July of that year. Also in 2006, the album was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the 100 best albums of all time.[19]

The influence of the Velvet Underground on rock greatly exceeds their sales figures and chart numbers. They are one of the most important rock and roll bands of all time, laying the groundwork in the Sixties for many tangents rock music would take in ensuing decades. Yet just two of their four original studio albums ever even made Billboard’s Top 200, and that pair –Luck_The_Fakers_The Velvet Underground and NicoLuck_The_Fakers_(#171) andLuck_The_Fakers_White Light/White HeatLuck_The_Fakers_(#199) – only barely did so. If ever a band was “ahead of its time,” it was the Velvet Underground. Brian Eno, cofounder of Roxy Music and producer ofLuck_The_Fakers_U2Luck_The_Fakers_and others, put it best when he said that although the Velvet Underground didn’t sell many albums, everyone who bought one went on to form a band. The New York Dolls,Luck_The_Fakers_Patti Smith, theLuck_The_Fakers_Sex Pistols,Luck_The_Fakers_Talking Heads,Luck_The_Fakers_U2,Luck_The_Fakers_R.E.M., Roxy Music and Sonic Youth have all cited the Velvet Underground as a major influence.
From The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame's website. Especially funny since you give the Hall do much value.

Well aware of all that, didn't we know they were ranked 13th by Rolling Stone? You don't seem to understand the word....historical. Take away The Velvet Underground now what? Take away...Blind Lemon Jefferson, Jimmie Rodgers, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, Hank Williams, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones...totally different deal.
I know...huh?
Are you for fucking real? If nobody takes this board seriously then......NOW THINK IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biopolar?
You have a thought process problem, as the Czar would say.
Maybe by 10 o'clock tonight you'll get it. If not, some day.

Do you know who Jellyroll Morton was? When talking about historical.....we look far deeper than The Velvet Underground.
Imagine reggae without Bob Marley.

They don't! You really do need to bone up on ....MUSIC 101. As of right now I fell like I'm talking to a little kid with a record by The Velvet Underground.
You could write a book on the history of music and not even include them.

You could write a book on the history of music and not even include them.
Then you would be omitting an incredibly significant band.

Here's the facts:
- You have given credence to Rolling Stone magazine.
- You have given credence to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
- Both groups have recognized The Velvet Underground as historically significant.

Did I not method....level? Everything has degrees/levels. Is Randy Moss fast...hell yes! Then there's Usain Bolt...totally different level.
The music world wasn't changed by The Velvet Underground. No where are they among the top 10 in anything. They didn't make the impact needed to be among the true legends. Hell yes they had an important album...cool! But if we look at the greatest bands of all time they are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down there.
