Boy, they sure aren't what they used to be, huh?

The City Council on Thursday endorsed a six-month pilot program to bring 15 “high-end” food trucks to three downtown locations.

“San Antonio has been a little bit behind the curve on this,” Mayor Julián Castro said. “But we're going to catch up, fast.”rollin

Food trucks downtown would help enliven the area, make it more “24/7,” a theme of Castro's administration, and complement the existing brick-and-mortar restaurants.

Ever wonder how these things get away with not having to comply with health standards?

No way they carry enough water for proper hand washing between exchanges of money and handling food for example. Ever see them routinely using those thin plastic gloves?

Not bad at all but I'm not real picky. And the workers did wear gloves and it looked clean.

Glad to hear that. Not all do, at least here in the Portland area.

Don't get me wrong. I have used them from time to time. I'm not a germ freak like some people. I just see that certain settings seem not to be scrutinized as well as others.

All I know is I got a chicken-&-waffle taco from a food truck here in Austin for like 5 bucks not too long ago, and that shit was amazing at 2:00 in the morning.

There is a place that retrofits trucks for this purpose over off of Bulverde road just south of 1604. I saw it every week when I was going to Rob Cary to train my dog. They have quite a few out front I guess to buy.

Yea they are now affiliated with Boardwalk on Bulverde. Been there a few times and there's a good selection of trucks, but it's situated in weird place.

I know. When I was at some art fair up there a bum came up to me & asked if I could get him something to eat, and even suggested which food truck was his favorite LOL
