View Full Version : Should the Lakers trade Gasol?

it has become increasingly clear gasol struggles as a third option and his defense leaves a lot to be desired. For many on the site either for reason that are legit are to slight Kobe have argued for gasols importance to the Lakers. Should they let him go if or when the Lakers don't win it all? Tonight for example he was outplayed by diaw a guy who the bobcats thought was not good enough for them.

If Diaw is better than Gasol we could make a trade. No problem.

We have Blair if you like more than Diaw.

My heart was breaking while seeing Pau getting thoroughly outplayed by fatass Diaw with the fat belly.

He has regressed. I'd be down with a trade, but for who?

son in case you missed my comment in the game thread ...

"lol funny how the ignorant Lakers fans find it so easy to blame Gasol, yet forget just how absolutely pathetic they were in the three and a half years before his arrival. if it wasn't for both Bynum and Gasol this season then the Lakers wouldn't even be a playoff team. Kobe proved to the world during that three and a half year run as "the man" that he couldn't do shit."

He will be 32 this summer, so that has to be taken into account. I don't think he has slowed down all that much yet, but it is inevitable over the next season or two. Trading him away will weaken the Lakers greatest advantage over the rest of the league, but with his decline imminent it may be wise to trade while he still has high value. They are in desperate need of depth, and Gasol could easily fetch a bunch of quality role players. With the right pieces around a duo of Kobe and Bynum the Lakers could be better next year.

They should see if they can still get Derrick Williams from Minnesota on draft day.

no sons what needs to be taken into account is that although Gasol will be turning 32, he has also averaged well over 18 and 10 every year as a Laker. Kobe on the other hand will be 34 and 35 years old taking up nearly half of the average teams payroll ...

tbh Kobe will probably bitch until he gets a trade of another superstar to carry him to a title

His game is tailor made for the triangle. In Brown Ball (whatever the hell that is) he struggles to get into any kind of rhythm.

son real talk ... Gasol for Okafor straight up?

Okafor has 2 years, $28 Million left

Gasol has 2 years, $38 Million left

you guys are going to need to free up some money with Kobe making $30 million

Son, Okafor is more bang for the buck but LAL will do everything they can to get Kobe his rings before 2014 when he will demand a 4 year 400million dollar contract.

i woudl consider that, save some cash and when you add bellinelli you get a good backup for kobe or somebody who can space and kobe moves to the 3

Correct

Lakers are a bench away from being a legit Title Contender. How does one build a bench with Kobe eating up half the team cap

That's where NY gains Kobe, as they meet his demands.

what now all of a sudden you guys appreciate what Gasol brings to your team? he is the reason the Lakers won back to back titles in recent years. Kobe never would have been able to do it as the "leader" of the team and he proved that during the three and a half years before Gasol and without Daddy holding his hand every step of the way.

:lmao :lmao We (at least me personally) never not gave Pau credit for his hand on the Lakers' two rings

kobe eats up half of the team's salary cap and he also takes bout half of the shots as well, and bricks most of them. 30m/yr ain't it like the whole team's payroll back in the early 2000s? money inflation has been insane the past fucking decade tbh
