I like JA getting extended minutes with the starters, though it is probably time for Timmy to take a seat.

Diaw just looks fantastic out there, can't believe how little time it has taken him to integrate. Such a smart player with fantastic vision and decision making. He seems to have such a good feel of where to be, when to pass, when to drive, and when to shoot.

i'll give him credit on his baseline drives which end up in dunks, but he's been getting complacent with a 3 point shot. don't get me wrong, in our offense, thats huge, and his percentage is up near 40 now, but i'd like to see him take more advantage of his athleticism/ball handling. not that he doesn't do it at all, but i'd like to see it MORE

I know injures are a concern, but we should utilize the 4th quarters for players who have cardio issues. Tiago might fit here based on some ST speculation that he's out of shape. Boris is another player who came in with conditioning issues, he should have gotten some burn too. I like that Stephen is out there because hes mentioned a few weeks ago that he wasn't quite in shape yet. Same with Kawhi, nice opportunity for him to continue and power through the rookie wall.

They don't have to play hard and risk their bodies (easier said then done..) but focus on getting up and down the court, sprinting, being active, etc.

Paul Garcia PS ‏ @24writer

Coach Pop on Diaw: "Boris is always impressive whether he starts or not. He has a really high IQ and it shows in a lot of different ways."

"What people really don't notice or give him credit for is his defense," said Pp of Diaw, "he plays really good defense." #Spurs

Good to know we have a starting lineup where all five guys are capable of playing defense. The start today showed that.

The Spurs blow out the Blazers by 35 points to clinch the West.

Not a peep about it on ESPN.

Coach Don Newman said after the game that Gary Neal has a bad shoulder bruise.

It's his left shoulder but let's hope it doesn't become a chronic issue. Whether its his shooting shoulder or not, raising both arms is what basketball players do on offense and on defense.

Neal doesn't need to play this week. He isn't needed much even in the first round, but hopefully he gets back quickly.

After Portland’s Hasheem Thabeet took out Boris Diaw and James Anderson on successive plays in the third quarter, Popovich rose to his feet to admonish official Mike Callahan.

“Are you watching that guy?” Popovich bellowed.

Cool. Less doubling or giving up easy baskets. Ideally it would have been nice for Pop to find a way to make the twin towers work on offense. But Diaw is still a huge upgrade over Blair.

Interesting tweet from McDonald:

Since Tim Duncan's arrival in 97-98, Spurs have posted .701 winning percentage (828-352). It is the winningest 15-year span in NBA history.
