Good. He's going to need to eat some minutes tonight and tomorrow.

Not surprised since Gary Neal will miss the last two.

Good move. The more non-essential bodies to eat minutes, the better.

Since the Spurs still have a roster spot, I'd prefer they sign an extra body for the Warriors game. IMO, signing Dawson for the Warriors game and the playoffs is worth however little amount of money it would cost.

Though part of me wanted Pop to put Blair at PG as a middle finger to the NBA scheduling department and the national media.

Judging from what we saw earlier this year, i'd say Corey is close enough.

I don't know if the Toros won last night (about to watch the game on NBA TV) but this will screw with their chances to win the Dleague title.

Speaking of Dawson. He started last night but only played 35 seconds. There's no mention of him in the game recap. Anyone have any info?

I think he will get pretty decent minutes today and tomorrow. Looking forward to see how much he has improved in while playing with Toros.

Sucks for the Torros, he was playing well for them.

Do you think the Torros could hang with the Bobcats? lol

CJ needs to see 80 minutes in these last two games.

Concussion - second possession of the game. D-League has the same procedures for getting cleared to play as the NBA. Even a "minor" concussion will take a couple of days, minimum.

sign up Leo Lyons for a 10 day? Or rest of the year.

Why not?

It sucks for Toros but they likely still have lost the D-League title. I've watched the end of the game of the first game against the D-Fenders and without Dawson, they were too challenged inside. For the D-Fenders, Elijah Millsap was very good and likely deserves to be called up.

I'm sorry I know Neal is out but dam I hate seeing this guy in the game for us :lol

so if they wanted to, could the spurs call up somebody from the d-fenders? just to mess with them. call up malcolm thomas again, and even the field a bit for the toros.

dawson suffered a concussion in the game by millsap (he pulled a ron artest move) so was out for the remaining of the game. Word is the spurs will sign him for the remaining of the year. He will not be playing with the Toros tomorrow.

Jeff McDonald with the breaking news as usual

@JMcDonald_SAEN Correction: Joseph flew to Phoenix from L.A. Toros opened D-League Finals on the road.

Maybe if you consider Cedar Park to be the road ...

Good thing Oliver North doesn't work for the Spurs. He can't recall anything.

Toros lost game one at Austin and Dawson also got hurt with a mild concussion. Games 2 & 3 are on the road. Toros have Dentmon and Squeaky. So this move by the Spurs makes perfect sense. I assume then Cory will be on the playoff roster?

Yeah, the Toros are boned. They played really good defense in game one considering Dawson was out and Julian Wright was in foul trouble, but got killed on the boards and the foul line. I believe they can still sign someone to replace Dawson but it's not going to be enough. LA is just too big and good.

Lyons says on twitter he is just traveling until summer league, btw.

Cory has been solid, but nowhere near dominant in the D-League. There is plenty of potential there though.

Thanks for the update. I was hoping someone would given a brief summary of his D-league performance when I saw this thread. Good to hear that hes doing well and progressing along. Still, it must be tough to be yanked away from your teammates in midst of a championship series. I hope the Spurs give him some solid minutes in the final two games because of that.

It was a continuing issue that there were three other capable point guards on the team. At least two and sometimes three of them would play at one time.

Joseph got more aggressive as the season progressed and never turned the ball over more than three times in any game. Rebounding is a surprisingly strong suit for him that reflects his leaping ability. Defensively he can be pretty good but often has trouble with guards who are bigger than him. No fatal flaws at this point, but nothing to make him non-expendable either.

The problem once again is the Spurs drafting a SG player who has PG body. No way is Cory a PG and while he is good at re bounding that is not going to get you on a NBA team when you are 6'3...

I agree. This move really sucks for the Toros. The Spurs should've called up someone from LA instead.
