That's why he is the GGOAT (Greatest Ginger of All Time). Don't underestimate the heart of a Ginger.

Playoff Matt Bonner says hi.

Yet another fascinating aspect of this potential match up.

To be fair, I think Matt underperformed last game in SLC.
However, this playoff series will be the definitive chapter on Matt's playoff spurs history.

If he somehow manages to play even average regular season bonner, his legacy is boosted by like 55%

Bonner already playing like the playoffs started. He forgot the lockout extended the end of the regular season.

April numbers
14 games
19.0 mpg
.406 FG%
5.1 ppg
2.9 rpg

That makes the Jazz the perfect opponent for Matt's playoff coming out party. If it doesn't happen here, it never will.

This is Ginger's year!

(I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually going to scream my ass off for Bonner and hope and believe that a new and improved Bonner shows up big)...I know, stop laughing...let's see what happens.

I seriously hope Bonner plays well this series. He needs the confidence boost for the next round.
Then again, if he plays well, there's a big possibility that Pop's man crush on him will double and he will steal playoff minutes away from Diaw and Splitter.
Dammit I'm torn in between.

He is going to be played... you have to hope he plays well. There is no other way.

It's not like other coach can't see the same stat. He will just factor it into his gameplan and take Bonner out of the equation. We fault Bonner for not showing up in the playoffs but a big part of it is the opposing coach being smart enough to figure out a way to make him ineffective.

If Bonner can't perform in a series against the Jazz, then how can he ever succeed in the playoffs?

There's two separate Jazz centric podcasts that have routinely mentioned how Bonner kills the Jazz. He's shot 60% against them from 3 this year alone.

Here's hoping to him not being his usual postseason terrible disappointment.

Matty, please. Prove us ALL wrong. I beg you. Please prove our asses all wrong.

I don't know how to feel if Bonner actually plays well. I don't want pop to give him more minutes.

All Matt has to do is take the 3's confidently if he's open or pullup for a good shot on a closeout. Now if the Jazz have any sense they're probably not going to leave him open otherwise it will be a pretty quick series.

^He's been left open in the playoffs before....

Jazz fans should feel better that Matt owns the whole NBA during the regular season, one of the best three point shooters in the NBA season.

Not as much during the real season.

That said, I hope he finally shuts us all up about that playoff choke crap and goes nuts.

When he goes nuts, we are unbeatable.

Bonner should not see minutes vs. the Jazz. Especially in Utah

They never do. Therein lies the utility of Matt Bonner as a stretch four.

He'll always be construed as one of the biggest threats from 3 regardless of how he does in clutch situations or in the playoffs. Utah will predominantly focus on his 42% from 3 this regular season and players won't leave him so easily.

Even if he misses an open shot, players aren't suddenly going to go "Oh hey maybe he's not as good from 3 as we thought! Let's help off him more!" mid game. They're going to think "Phew that was close, I better not leave him open again. He's a great 3 point shooter who just happened to miss on that last possession."

Every year this starts in April, numbers go down before the playoffs start as if chicken shit can tell they are coming and starts his annual fade. He is hardly clutch.

If their athletic and determined enough they will be able to help and chase Matty of the 3's.

I just hope Utah doesn't figure out they can run Jamaal Tinsley to close on him and he will pass up his shots. Much like Memphis did last year by running OJ Mayo at him.

And I also disagree with the "doubt" aspect. If you're facing a healthy Spurs and you have to pick your poison between Tony/Manu/Tim or Bonner, you pick Bonner 10 out of 10 times.
