scola would have helped in '08, '09, '10, '11, so, no, not put to rest.

EXACTLY! And how about Scola and Splitter working with Duncan?

good point but even with Scola, I don't see spurs winning any of those years.
this year a Splitter/Scola could take us over the top

I don't think we would have kept both.
I don't think we would have kept both.
Why not? We wouldn't have needed to get Dice or kept Bonner. Imagine a TD/Scola/Splitter/Diaw combo. I'd be betting on a championship this year.

you seriously think Pop would have not kept Bonner? He spreads the floor.
IMO Splitter would not have been given a chance if Scola was here. Pop barely started playing him in front of Bonner

If you remember, the Spurs dumped Scola right when they drafted Splitter -- that was the plan, one replaced the other. I believe the Spurs thought Splitter's game would translate better in an NBA title run than Scola's (I certainly did and do).
Problem was, Splitter stayed in Euro longer than expected so there was a bigger interval between the non-arrival of Scola and the arrival of Splitter than they figured.
I'd take getting Scola when Duncan/Parker/Gino were near their primes over having Splitter now.

THAT'S IT.
Splitter re-signed in Europe and made Pop/Spurs/fans wait.....
THAT is why Pop has a grudge....I had forgotten about Splitter taking his sweet time to arrive here.

Russ is right, but it was mishandled. We should have kept Scola, and it will forever suck that they didn't - he's a wonderful player.
But the FO has done some tremendous stuff and one mistake, however significant, does not besmirch a tremendous record.

well
Ginobili did the same, and a bunch of other players too. Splitter was not ready to NBA that time.

Scola > Bonner
Fortunatly the Scola scar is slowly healing with Tiago on this team.
Well they're similar type of players, the only advantage I see in Splitter is the height. Other than that Luis is a tad smarter and more efficent and talented. The great thing is Splitter is only 25 :)
I tried hard not post anything out of my argentine homerism, but Im really happy Tiago is on our team tbh, his start in SA reminds me a lot of Manu in some ways

OP, that is a premature statement. We haven't traded Splitter or let him go for no reason yet.
