Our 2nd and 3rd units almost beat a Utah Jazz team that was desperate to win just to make the playoffs a couple of weeks ago.

It took a barrage of 3 pointers and CP3-like flops by Devin Harris for Utah to pull out the win.

That being said, I think it's far too easy to get complacent when you're up 2-0 in a series, so I'll say Spurs in 5.

We'll take the Spurs to 6 at least. Anything beyond that will be determined by how well we defend the p&r and how productive our bench guys are. If pop tries that Blair crap against our 3 big lineup it'll be a long night for the spurs..

Though I could be wrong if guys like Cj and Raja end up getting significant minutes coming off injuries. That could result in a sweep

There's already a thread about how the Spurs are the "worst flopping team in the league," and another one complaining about how spurs fans aren't as intimidated by the Jazz front line as they think we should be.

I kid you not, I saw one "jazzfanz" poster worry about Utah's ability to score when the Spurs go into their zone defense.

I honestly don't remember the last time the Spurs actually employed a zone. It just goes to show that these people haven't watched a single Spurs game beyond the utah/spurs matchups during the regular season.

Don't generalize. I've watched plenty of Spurs games this season. In fact they were probably my 4th most watch team behind Utah, Minny and Memphis.

You may want to think that but that doesn't make it so. Most on here thought the Spurs were going to struggle in the playoffs last year and they did.

My guess is the Jazz will win one of the first 2 games, most likely game 1, and be done in 5. Spurs have a history of starting the playoffs by blowing a game.

Many teams who don't normally use zone have used zone against Utah at points. Sorry Jazz fans don't watch every single Spurs game just to see if they have ever played a zone.

Millsap is not nearly as talented as Gasol or Randolph so you should just stop. You're right they do have very different skillsets, but the only difference is the results will be different from last year. It'll be a sweep.

lmbebo
04-27-2012, 06:08 PM
ZBo was just a monster last year.

Gasol's size, passing and outside shot hurt us. Tony Allen's determination hurt us. Conley played out of his mind. TP played like he lost his mind. Then some of there reserves played crazy good. They out played us, they out hustled us. They man-handled us as well (very physical).

That team was playing like a top 4 team in the league. Once they won that 1st game, there confidence sky rocketed.

Al Jeff and Milsap are great players, but they bring something different than Gasol and ZBo.

Last year Z-Bo was an All NBA player, Tony Allen was an All NBA Defensive player, add Shane Battier and Conley's defense plus Manu's injury equals "bye-bye" Spurs! Not so with Jefferson and Milsaps, not even close!! There good players but they aren't on that level just yet. They're a true eight seed, just an appetizer! Memphis wasn't a true eight seed last year. They took OKC to 7 games!!!

Is it possible the Jazz threw those first 3 games just to make Spurs have false confidence?

Ty Corbin is somewhat of a prodigal genius, though few know it. He knew the Jazz could face the Spurs in the 1st round and expose them, but he wanted to do so under the radar. He knew throwing the 1st 3 games would give the Spurs a false superiority. The trap is set. You have been warned.

Not at all. Manu was injured. He's not this year, plus the Spurs are deeper and the Grizzlies are simply better than the Jazz. No comparison to our pre-series sentiments. I respect the Jazz but just think the Spurs will outmatch them rather convincingly.

Manu was injured and the Spurs weren't as good last season as this season. Besides, the Spurs had a hobbled Tim Duncan all by himself against the Grizzlies front line. I think that anyone could've stood in as a coach for the Grizzlies last playoffs and beaten the Spurs that series. No special props warranted, although I think Hollins is a good coach. The Spurs were just injured, flat and weak in the front court.
