Mark Cuban: "The Spurs have been playing great, obviously, because they've been shooting really well. But, we've been that team before, too, and they were that team last year."

Tbh, that's a low blow to compare the Spurs to the Mavs of the past. Plus, the Mavs were a jumpshooting team last year too ... they just never cooled off.

But, yeah, :stirpot:

I wonder what Cubes is trying to accomplish given that his team has a mega-showdown with Oklahoma City.

What would the offseason be without some kind of goofy diss from Cuban?

Hey, Mark - Tyson Chandler says "Hi".

Mavs going out the first round. Lakers going out in the second. Cuban douching it up.

All is right in the NBA, again.

? I don't follow, Venti.

The NBA hasn't been right since 2007, tbh.

I know theres only a 30% of it happening but wouldnt it be great to see the Mavs upset the okc darlings?

That reminds me, I haven't said "Fuck Mark Cuban" in awhile--no time like the present.

Fuck Mark Cuban.

Not really. I wanna see OKC vs. Lakers in round 2.

No. I want the Thunder to knock out the Mavs and Lakers, be the most hyped team this side of Miami, only to have the Spurs rub their fucking noses in it in game 6 in their own house.

It's win/win either way.

Either OKC Darlings go out in the first round, or the defending champs do.

Cuban really should be worrying about how his team is playing. And I don't know, maybe the match up with OKC?

He lucked out to play the only team that could choke worse than his by playing lechoke and the heat in the finals. He's know it's over and he's pissed. Even now Timmy is more of an inside presence than the fagericks ever had.

He makes a good point, alas he's failed to pay attention tithe trend that they are relying less on the three pointer this year than last.

it's sad that even the owner bailed on their team already. The playoffs havent even started and they are acting defeated already

what a sad pathetic example of a defending champ tbh

I really think the Mavs stole our 'ship last season. I am not sure they would have been able to get past us if we had met in the WCF.

Lebron didn't just joke by himself. The Mavs had a really good gameplan against the Heat.

No. Mavs winning the first round over choke city and the Lakers going to the WCF to beat up on the Spurs.

After living in Dallas so long, I have come to view Cuban in a different light.

This comment is all about him keeping fire of the spurs/mavs rivalry alive, in the small chance we meet the mavs in the WCFs. I don't believe this stuff is personal anymore like I used to.

I have to respect the guy.

He tries to make his team better and he tries to make the NBA better. Yeah he is whinny, bitching, thinks he is an athlete owner, but he keeps things interesting.

The championship they won last year was a work of art. And he played a part. He believed in Carlisle while the entirety of the Mav fan base wanted to kill him. And he let the finals win be about the players. He shut his mouth at the most important times.

He gives us shit because you know he respects the hell out of what we have accomplished as a small market team. And what a great rivalry... A Spur fan has to ask what bar is safe in Dallas as a Spurs fan. Thats ok.

Cuban's right.
Great defense stays great defense.
Strong rebounding stays strong rebounding.
Outside shooting percentage has a lot more variance.
The Spurs are the favorites, but because it's based on our shots going in, we are more susceptible to bad nights than our 2003 version.

I like how the OP chopped up Cuban's commentary saying that it was about the Spurs hot shooting. It was actually about both Dallas and the Spurs being #1 seeds who lost in the first round.

It's not happening this year.

He makes the team better by just throwing money everywhere and hoping it sticks? He's the main reason I wanted a hard cap in the new CBA.

:lol He tries to make the NBA better. It's just a coincidence that his concern for the well being of the NBA swells after his team gets what he perceives as a bad call against them.

Wait...Cuban isn't highly impressed by the Spurs' play? He doesn't think they got a shot at winning a title? Doesn't sound like him at all to me.

Mark is the defending champ, he gets to talk shit. He's probably right, but when we weren't who we are now, we didn't blow up the team in the following season.

It wouldn't be the playoffs without Cuban trying to stir up the spurs mavs rivalry. Still the best (and only) one in the nba.

Mark Cuban knows what he is talking about. Why else would he have all that money?
