..it got me thinking about back in the day when I lived across the street from a black church. You could hear them singing those gospel songs for blocks. They'd meet at around 7 at night as opposed to in the am. I'd sit on the porch and listen. That was long before I discovered Georgia Tom Dorsey, Blind Willie Johnson, Washington Phillips, Bozie Sturdivant, Blind Joe Taggart, Blind Mamie Forehand (Tom Waits mentioned her) and Blind Roosevelt Graves.

There is just something very powerful here...
