Positives to take from this game:

Celtics missed every 3 and still kept it close.

Garnett had a shitty half, and Pierce wasn't doing great offensively.

Bass, Rondo and Bradley are nice young trio.

Negatives to take:

Celtics are old.

Rondo, one of the few who isn't, probably isn't playing Game 2.

The Celtics half court offense looks like shit without Jesus; I mean like Fratello Cavaliers bad.

^ johnson was 0-9 from the 3 point line. but rondo is supsended. its a simple rule they apply it that way, there is no argument. they did it with trukeyglue, lopez and others.

Double technical ejection is totally justified for that play, but 1 game suspension?

If Rondo gets 1 game for that, Artest should've gotten 10-15 games for his elbow.

Can they suspend Rondo without pay for 1 game during the next regular season? That might constitute a fair compromise, tbh.

Props to Mr. Maxipad for winning the youtube post battle.

If he gets suspended, it'll be for probably a game.

You cannot be allowed to touch the refs in retaliation. It can never get to that point.

It was a terrible foul call in the first place, so I understand his initial reaction. Can't touch those faggots, though...he should know that

Rulebook: Any player ... guilty of intentional physical contact with an official shall automatically be suspended without pay for one game.

Yay twitter guys.

Nice find. Rondo just single-handedly gave away the series if that's the case.

The Hawks winning 2 home games doesn't end the series. What he did just made it tough, though.

What's the success rate for teams that go up 2-0 to start a series? Something like 75-80% IIRC, with Dallas' '06 meltdown being the most egregious counter-example.

Yeah, it's not quite as dominating as the 100% win rate from a 3-0 stranglehold, but it's pretty significant.

Had the Celtics won game 1, I wouldn't have said the series is over even if Rondo is suspended for game 2. It's not that Rondo is probably giving away a game. It's just that to realistically win a series, you can't go down 0-2 even if both are road games.

"Accidentally" elbowing a person in the face - 7 games
Making slight contact with a ref - 1 game

Seems fair. :lol

It actually is, touching a ref is akin to being black and touching a cop

The call was shit. Rondo's postgame trip excuse was convincing. NBA can't afford to put down another star even for one gameafter Howard and Rose are out. That would pretty much eliminate the Celtics.

looked like he tripped on back heel of the ref, which made him backdoor the ref...looks like a scene from brazzers...

I'm pretty sure it went a lil smtnhg like this; he went over to the ref to say whayever he had to say, i don't think he wanted to give him a bump at that point..but he tripped on the back of his foot and as he was still barking at the ref and leaning over a bit, he thought 'well let's give him a lil chest bump now'. That's where the momentum carried over to the bump. Stupid.

If the NBA can suspend Stoudemire from game 5 of a 2-2 series that decides the championship on a technicality, they can do it for Rondo in game 2 of the first round too tbh.

Zaza Pachulia!!

I believe it's a foot injury that is keeping him out of the series.

Even without Rondo's hijinks, the Celtics were having difficulties with a Hawks team that is starting their THIRD-string center (who provides little to no offense).

If they lose Rondo for game 2, it's a near certainty that they go back to Boston down 0-2.

He did trip, but the bump was well after he got his balance. He needs to realize with slo mo and cameras everywhere, it would be best to not lie about what happened.

“I don’t want to pre-judge on what the recommendation is going to be,” Stern said. “But as a fan, he obviously bumped him. And you know what happens with respect to that.”
There have been three instances this season where a player or coach has been suspended for a game for bumping a referee.

“We have a hard and fast rule,” Stern said. “Unless somebody trips you and sends you into him, nobody touches a referee. That’s the proposition.”

Well Stern is a faggot anyway but it would be some bullshit if he got suspended.

If you trip the first thing that happns is your hands go up & youre like "Im sry" or "excuse me"!
Rondo did none of that which made it seem premeditated!!
Now, does the ejection carry a suspension & if so does that add to whtevr suspension he gets for bumping the official??

Slow-motion cameras from every angle didn't stop MWP from lying about his obviously intentional hit ...
