Honestly, work is one of the only places where I celebrate it. One place I worked for went all out. They put streamers and balloons all over our desks and then the manager bought a big ole cake for the birthday person. At the place I'm working now it's on everyone's calendar and everyone goes out for lunch for birthdays.

At least for this birthday I'm going to sit on the couch, with a bowl of (fat free) ice cream, cry, and watch cheesy late 90s teen comedies.

We used to until some people started bitching about the free cake they would get. There's always that jackass in the office.

I celebrate my birthday every day by releasing 300 million of my potential progeny into the public water system via my shower drain.

My birthday is on a holiday, and I probably wouldn't anyways.

Don't normally, but was in Nigeria for work on my last birthday. Didn't tell them, but one of my co-workers that went with me did. Any excuse to throw a party. They treated me very well. Nothing wrong with an office full of beautiful Nigerian ladies giving you birthday 'greetings'. Wouldn't mind celebrating all of them there...

Once a month the entire place has food for everyone who has a birthday that month, and anyone who wants to bring stuff does. I like it that way because lots of people have birthdays my month, and I do not like all the fuss for me.

I haven't celebrated my birthday since I turned 22. There's really no point to it.

Does the boss pick up the tab?

Yeah, that would ruin it. Bitching about a free cake. :lol

Now that's a nice thing to do.

For the decorations it was more office politics than anything. Whoever liked the person the best bought and decorated. They bought the cake too. As far as lunch at the current job it's all on you.

No. There is a lengthy sob story about why I left. But that was well over a year ago and now I am happily working for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

When I used to work for a professional photographer, he took us out to lunch on my birthday and let me work a half day in the morning. When I used to work at a camera shop, my boss gave me a "pink slip", bascially, the slip we used to send cameras for repair and had some funny answers to the lines of info on them. I think I got filters for my camera from them.

Other than that, I take the day off, and since my birthday is near Father's Day, I take that weekend off too. Some years my birthday is on Father's Day, so I get screwed because I only get one day. :)

Just yesterday I put in a request for the Friday-Monday of Father's Day, and then the following Wednesday for my birthday.
