Keep Melo.

Neither are going to be traded this off season. With that said at this point in both of their careers Melo is the more secure centerpiece.

However, it's going to be hard to trade Amar'e due to his contract.

No brainer, Melo and tbh i doubt Amare will ever get to the Amare we saw in Phoenix. What's more disturbing is Amare was such a One Dimensional player when he was a Sun. Dude had Griffin like Athleticism with an Inside game.

Amar'e was MVP worthy last year when he was the number 1 option; before the Melo trade. He still has his athleticism, although it comes in flashes this time around.

Question is why doesn't he want to be more physical and explosive as the Amar'e of old? In my opinion it's his discontent of not being the 'go to guy'. Although I never understood why his FGA is so low, look at OKC - Durant and Westbrook have nearly identical FGA. I feel if Melo and Amar'e work that out they can finally be that deadly 1, 2 punch the Melo trade meant them to be.

I fail to understand how GMs shell out the Max $ to players like Joe Johnson, Amare, Rashad Lewis, Arenas and i can go on.

One reason why i appreciate Lebron for taking less money. IMO Kobe should've done what Duncan did in 2007. Bynum will most definitely ask for the Max in the off season, and the Lakers will not have a choice. I expect Gasol to get traded this off season.

A combination of desperation and no alternatives.

I gotta say though, Arenas was a beast back when he was Agent Zero. His injury sidelined his entire career.

That's why I don't like max contract in sports. One year you have a superstar, the next he's injured and never the same again.

The onus of that is on the Knicks front office. Everyone knows that Amare was not and is not ever going to be worth 20 million per year.

Better keep Melo. These guys can't play together.

Arenas was the number 1 option in a struggling team.

He averaged 29 points, 6 assist and 2 steals at one point in his career.

Amar'e Stoudemire was seen by a hand specialist in New York on Tuesday. The surgeon repaired a small muscle and Stoudemire has been ruled out for Game 3. Stoudemire is also listed as doubtful for Game 4.

MVP worthy? :lmao:lmao

Amare 2010-11 pre-all star numbers:

26.1 ppg 8.6 reb 2.7 ast 2.2 blk 1.0 stl 50% fg 79% ft

he wasn't going to get it probably even if that had continued, but at the very least those kind of numbers put you in the conversation.

Amar'e was in the MVP conversation for the first half of last season.

Here's a glimpse of his numbers last year pre all-star break:

He had a total of 310 points and 97 rebounds in the 9 consecutive games of over 30 points (Knicks record)

He averaged 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2.5 blocks on .500 FG%

That's worthy of being in the conversation for MVP.

Amar'e isn't done. He's just had injury troubles this season. When healthy the guy is a top 5 PF and was an MVP candidate as a 1st option.

Under 45%

Averaged more points, higher FG%, less FGA than this season's Kobe. But, let's not digress.

Melo is the only tradeable piece. Send him to the Brooklyn Nets for whoever their best player is and a first round pick. No one is taking Amare's contract, and even worse...no one wants Amare's troubled ass.

I don't see why Melo is worth the drama, he's a fantastic bball player but he can't play cohesive team basketball for extended periods of time (i.e. however long this current roster excluding Amare stays together). Melo can score 30+ a night on the Nets and dominate the box score as the definitive #1 scorer just like he's always wanted - maybe get a scoring title. Knicks already have good shooters, can maintain 2 legit defensive players in Chandler and that dude that just got injured, and Lin is still a bankable star cuz Asian people love bball too. Why the fuck am I even writing this shit out? Fuck The Knicks.

I didn't reference Arenas to being an MVP. I mentioned he was a beast pre-injury which is why he was able to acquire his mega contract.

On the flipside, Kobe is regarded as a top 3 MVP candidate :lol
