View Full Version : Which team will crush LeBron James' title hopes this year?

With many grey named Heat fans emerging from their smelly fucking Cuban holes, let's discuss what team it will be this year that will, once again, shit all over LeBron James and his buddies.

Well I hate the Spurs but even I can admit that they probably have the best chance of crushing Lebron's title hopes this year. The Spurs aren't scared of Lebron. The 2007 NBA Finals proved that. I would say that the Celtics are probably the 2nd biggest threat to Lebron's title hopes.

The Bulls were the only team in the East that had a legit chance IMO..

OKC would have a decent shot..Spurs, Celtics(with Ray Allen) and Lakers would have a puncher's chance, they have some matchup advantages..

I am going with this answer...It will be interesting to see what happens to the Heats Big Three if they don't win it all this year...

DUNCANownsKOBE
05-02-2012, 12:28 PM
I don't see a reason to break up the big 3 if the Heat don't win it all this year. I'd see a reason to fire Spoelstra (mainly for not developing a bench or system that doesn't rely on Bron and Wade 40 minutes a night), amnesty/trade Mike Miller, bring in shooters who aren't afraid of the playoffs, and most of all a reason to go out and actually get a center. It might happen if they come up short this year but I don't see breaking Bosh/Bron/Wade up as something that accomplishes anything or solves any problems.

ElNono
05-02-2012, 12:29 PM
Whoever comes out of the West will beat them, par the course...

The West playoffs is such a battle. It really does prepare teams to take it to another level in order to survive. I don't see that happening in the leastern conference.

That's easier said than done, especially with the salary wrapped up in the big 3 there.

Agreed, but my overall point was that breaking up the big 3 isn't an acceptable solution. They'd also be limited to the MLE and minimum contracts, but amnestying Mike Miller would give them payroll relief. They desperately need an upgrade at center though.

HarlemHeat37
05-02-2012, 01:07 PM
Firing Spoelstra is easily the first solution, he's one of the worst coaches in NBA history..

Mike Miller has been a huge bust, so they'll amnesty him, too..

They desperately need a decent C, so Miller should be replaced by a potential big man..

As for the thread..

The perception is that the Lakers match up well, due to their size..their size is obviously a significant advantage, but there's virtually no chance that Kobe takes a backseat to their bigs, in the Finals, against Lebron and Wade..

LA is the slowest team in the NBA, Miami is arguably the most athletic..Bosh usually outplays Gasol, Lebron usually outplays Kobe..Bynum would be the primary mismatch, but I doubt Kobe would allow it, tbh..

Spurs only have a chance if Duncan averages an efficient 23-12 or so IMO..

Celtics are older and worse than last year, when Miami dominated them..

Question for you guys: 2011 champ mavs would beat 2012 Heat ?

I'd say yes

The heat is much improved team this year more cohesion between wade, bosh and lebron, Hasleem is healthy, Chalmer seems to play better with the big 3 and Turiaff brings some blocking shot presence and hustle but I don't think it would be enough for the mavs of last year.

If Miami's scrubs play well, the Heat are unbeatable.

If Bosh plays well, they're basically unbeatable.

If Bosh plays decent and their scrubs play decent, they are close to unbeatable.

If Bron is aggressive, they are unbeatable.

Bosh and the scrubs are playing well right now and that's what makes the Heat so scary. The Lakers, Spurs, Thunder and Griz have the size and athleticism to make things difficult for Bosh while also challenging 3pt attempts from Miller, Chalmers and Battier. But it's all on the Heat. And a lot of things would have to go wrong simultaneously for anyone in the West to achieve one W, much less four.
