More than 200 U.S. troops were wounded in Iraq in the past week, the Pentagon said Tuesday, and the total since the invasion was launched in March 2003 is now 7,245.

Of the 219 wounded in the past week, 81 were returned to duty; the 138 others were not.

The Pentagon generally reports its wounded totals each week. Fatality totals are updated daily.

The number of Americans killed and wounded has grown rapidly amid an intensifying and increasingly effective insurgency. There were more wounded over the past five months — about 4,000 — than in the first 13 months of the war, when there were about 3,300, according to Pentagon reports.

I have a serious question for you DeSPURate.

If the war is justified, bodies don't count; If the war is not justified, 1 is too many. Period.

So, why post numbers? Why not just stick to your argument of why the war is unjustified.

Becuase politics don't work on idealistic terms. Besides you told me the insurgency is dying.

That doesn't mean you have to be a partisan lackey. And, I still believe the insurgency is dying.

Its a direct rebuttal to your claim that the insurgency was at its death nells a few months ago. You keep claiming its the end of fighting. Its not. This is going to be a civil war. Like most of the experts agree.

Numbers of casualties are not an indicator of the health or demise of a movement.

More people died on the last days of the War in the Pacific than at any other time yet, it was the last days of the war.

Intensified fighting is sometimes a sign of desperation or exasperation...it means nothing and this could all end tomorrow.

We're committed to staying the course until it stops. If you're behind that effort, counting bodies doesn't help. If you're not, argue your message don't point at dead bodies as a reason for not doing what we're doing.

Despurado...does it give you great pleasure to post numbers of wounded or dead? It certainly does not me. You're a sick puppy. Why don't you try supporting your country for a change instead of playing partisan politics? I know...I know...never mind...forget it.
