Utah Native here. I was listening to the local Sports Radio and they CANNOT stop clamoring over how well the Spurs have played the Jazz. They are patting themselves on the back saying that the Jazz won't feel so bad about their series once they see the Spurs PLOW through the rest of the Western Conference on the way to the TITLE. They said the only way the Spurs will lose is if they beat themselves. Until then (they continue to say) the Spurs are like a "Dump truck barreling down the highway going 65MPH". --Why 65, I don't know, maybe that's the peaking point that speeding dumptrucks can't be stopped...?
But most everyone is NOW seeing the FURY and the PRECISION that is the Spurs team.
Spurs are on a mission. Period.
I can't help but get excited about that.

The only way the Spurs will get respect this season is by whooping ass against each team in the playoffs. Fans of other teams are slowly opening their eyes :wow

I think Utah gets off to a hot start and builds a decent lead in the 1st half, but the Spurs reel them back in after the break. Should be a good tuneup for this team if they trail early and are able to execute in a somewhat tight game. That would also help the learning curve of young'uns like Leonard and Green rather than going through another blowout.

Yeah, they haven't really had to play from behind much. Hopefully that streak will continue tonight, though. We have enough tough games coming up in the next round. Let's put the Jazz away early tonight and rest up for the Clips or Grizz.

expect utah to come out very fired up and play quite well to open the game. however, once the spurs make any sort of a run and get a lead of 6 to 8 points, they will fold.
but i don't know. I really think the Jazz will backdoor sweep us... i mean, they're going to start derrick favors! oh the humanity. im shaking. their BIG lineup. jazz champions 2012

jestersmash
05-07-2012, 07:28 PM
Jazz with some really nice PnR defense. They're not going under the screen exactly. The guard is backing off prematurely expecting a drive.
Manu would have a wide, wide open 3 as a counter, but he's 0-8 on threes this series and Parker has never been a good 3 point shooter.
If Parker is running the PnR, the pick will have to set inside the 3 point line so Parker gets a jumper in his sweet spot.

I would think so because Favors is a significantly better pnr defender than Jefferson (who is possibly one of the worst on the planet). I figured that would be the main advantage of starting Favors although TD is having a good game regardless.

No kidding.
A couple of minutes ago we were shooting 33% from the field and were only down 2 points.
Tony Parker is 1-5. Bonner, Splitter, Leonard, and Diaw are 0-7 combined.
Up 3 after 1 quarter? I'll take it.

Man I'm still waiting for Manu to hit his first 3 in this series.:wow
The worst is over, imo.
The Spurs weathered the flurry from the Jazz.
Doesn't it seem like it takes Tony a quarter or two to figure out how to attack the changes in defensive line-ups that they throw at him, and then he goes off in the later quarters? They have changed the person or the approach to him in each of the games, and he takes a while to get it going, and then it is over.
I hope he didn't get hurt when Harris stepped on him.
Tiago needs to pump fake against favors or pass out to an open shooter. Don't go up soft anymore.

Bonner FT's? Wtf?
Don't want to admit it but Favors could become a defensive beast. 20-year-old bigs who are this good on D are really rare, tbh.
Hopefully Parker didn't get hurt. That didn't look right.
Splitter needs to throw a pump fake at Favors.
He is just jumping from help defence and get couple blocks. It isnt like he is good 1on1 defender. Great athletism and couple of bad layups attempts resulting is huge blocks. Crowad and Favors got pumped up. Still nothing special

Yeah. Favors, to me, is probably going to be like Tyson Chandler with a better offensive game imo. That's the type of player Splitter would need a while to get accustomed to.
Edit: Splitter needs to use some of those fakes here.
