John Hollinger and Jeff McDonald per their twitters are reporting that the 2nd round series for the Spurs will have a back to back in games 3 and 4 unless the Clippers win tonight.

I feel we match up better with the clippers (not scared of grizz either) and the clips are battling a whole string of injuries so with that being said Go Clippers for tonight only...

I don't think it matters and the team seemed to play better with less rest winnning both back to back to backs and the 5 in 6 nights.

I'd rather see the Clips too. The Spurs can beat both teams, but Crack Handoff/Zach Randolph had a monster series last year against the Spurs. Bring on the Clips. Or bring on revenge. I'm ok with both.

The way they make the first round last so damn long, then rush the second round is so dumb.

yep, a compressed business-friendly season, but a super drawn-out first round.

If that happens right there you have a prove of how much the league disrespects the Spurs.
In 08 with a limping Ginobili coming out of a game 7 against the Hornets the league set the next PO matchup with a b2b in the first 2 games, basically killing any spurs chance to win at LA and making the rest LA had very usefull.
If there is a b2b in the next round series it should be the first two, giving the Spurs a great edge (beause of the rest and a tired opponent) as they did to them against LA.

Our opponent would be the one with the disadvantage , this is where our depth would be used to its fullest

If Clippers win in 7 and Lakers advance too, I don't really see the point of a b2b in games 3 and 4. Both LA teams can play game 4 on Sunday with one playing the afternoon and the other the evening but they can't play both their game 6 on the next Thursday.

The deepest team in the league should welcome a B2B in the playoffs.

I could've sworn after the lockout they, said they were going to give ample breaks between playoff games on account of the crammed regular season. Any team playing a b2b in the playoffs is horseshit.

Who cares.

Spurs haven't played in rhythm for like a month. If this team gets gassed with a back to back now then you might as well put Duncan and the rest of the team in a retirement home.

LA ? That's assuming they can scrape past the Nuggets in Game 7 after being blown out in Game 6, it seems Lakers choke badly on close out games for some reason...... :sleep

Phoenix came back and destroyed the Fakers in 2006 when they were down 3-1 to win in 7 .... I hope the Nuggets repeat that tomorrow.

I would say yes, we are deepera able to rest at home that night and the clips or mem would come with 7 stressfull games under their belt. Almost perfect situation for a rested home team.

It may also be better as the b2b at the begining of the playoff bracket would leave them tired for their home games.

Whichever team wins, it amounts to whole hell of lot of basketball in so many days.

If it's the Clippers and they got to play back-to-back while nursing injuries... that can't be too good.

If it's the Grizzlies, they can try to slow down the pace but since they ain't as deep as the Spurs, I think pace and execution will inexorably win the series.
Whoever the Spurs play, I'm of the opinion it goes no longer than 5 games.

Well, I would assume the B2B is bad news for the team coming out of a 7 game series, not for the fresh, deep and healthy Spurs...

Good that b2b is in games 3 and 4, because it is hard to win two games on b2b nights against same team, therefore this favors the team on the road, as they steal a road win.

no, 3,4 are in MEM, where a road game is already a factor, road + 2nd game = tough

SOme of you need to quit the whining. The Spurs had no control over whether the B2B happened. If the Clippers had won in 6, there wouldn't be a B2B, so if you're looking for someone to blame, don't blame David Stern/the NBA... blame the Clippers for choking.

In retrospect, since the Lakers are going to a Game 7, they will most likely ALSO play a B2B in Games 3 and 4 vs OKC (Assuming they get past Denver, that is).

Games 3 and 4 for Spurs will be back to backs. 2:30 Saturday, and either 7 or 9:30 Sunday.

Jeff McDonald ‏ @JMcDonald_SAEN

Exact tip time for Game 3 dependent upon opponent. If LAC, game tips at 12:30 central. If MEM, tips at 2:30 central. Game 4 at 7:30/7.

Potential Clippers series would go every-other-day after the back-to-back. Memphis series has extra day between 6 and 7. Seems odd.

The thing is, regardless of which two teams are playing, in the playoffs, there should NEVER be a back to back. The league spends too much time spreading out games in the first round, only to realize they fucked up the second round and are trying to compensate for it.

Since both remaining series in the West are going 7 because teams choked away a lead, the Spurs game should be on Monday and the OKC game should be on Sunday.

SA and OKC earned their home court advantage, now it's time to see it come into play.

Funny, I can't find anything in the news about a potential back to back for the OKC series. I see that an OKC-Lakers series would start on Monday (one day earlier than a SA vs Mem/LAC series).

If SA ends up with the only back to back in the 2nd round, that is a Bush league move by the league. Lakers should have one too since their series went to 7 games. If they would've taken care of business in Game 5 or 6, I could see not giving them a back to back.

Someone made the point already, but no team should have a back to back in playoffs. Never want to hear about excuses either way. for the Spurs, I think its an advantage given their depth. Heck, how many b2b b2b b2b did the SPurs sweep this year?

I stand corrected (or I was right the first time: whichever...). The Lakers-OKC series ALSO has a back to back for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday, I believe. So at least the Spurs are not the ONLY ones doing it.

Also, if Game 3 is a noon or 2:30 tipoff, at least Game 4 the next day is not until 7pm. They'll get 24+ hours between games.

Wait, I thought all or most of the four remaining series would have b2b's because of the "quirky" scheduling. But it seems like the Spurs series is the only one with a b2b. What kind of shit is that? That's one heck of a coincidence.
