MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Heat say Chris Bosh will be sidelined indefinitely because of a strained abdominal muscle.

An MRI exam performed Monday confirmed the diagnosis. Bosh was hurt late in the first half of the Heat's 95-86 victory over Indiana on Sunday in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Game 2 of the series is Tuesday night. Bosh's minutes will likely be filled by Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf, both of whom played extended stretches Sunday after Bosh departed.

Well hopefully it costs Miami a few games sitting Bosh and ultimately the series. I like to think Indiana wins next game, but Indiana winning next three to take control seems unlikely. Still a bit early for Lebron to choke just yet.

Bosh out against Indiana isn't a huge loss. I think if they meet Boston in east finals or any team in the west in the finals (assuming miami goes that far, and I think they will), then his absence will be felt more.

I agree with your point overall that Pop deserves credit for keeping his team healthy to this point in a season that had a schedule that increased the likelihood of injury down the stretch, but don't forget that the very media you say doesn't give Pop credit is the same media that voted him COTY.

The most rested team in the league is also the most healthy team in the playoffs, and has had none of the wear-and-tear related injuries of teams like the Bulls and the Celtics. You say this is luck, I say that rest and health have to do with one another. Rose's big injury might have been a freak landing, but he'd had nagging injuries most of the last part of the season, and Thibs pushed that team HARD every game. Come playoffs guys like Deng were obviously fatigued.

I'm not saying that the Spurs haven't been extremely lucky, all I'm saying is that anyone who criticized Pop for resting his guys should maybe reflect on their stance given the benefit of glorious hindsight.

I have the impression Phil Jax doesn't manage minutes at all. I guess his GM's picked less injury prone players. He had Bynum out in 2008, then Malone and Ho Grant out in 2004 and that's it. Pop had bad luck with Manu various times despite managing his minutes, also Duncan was out in 2000 and Derek Anderson in 2001.

Yeah. Phil Jax has never really had a problem with injuries. You can chalk up Malone's and Ho Grant's injuries to age. And he didn't micromanage minutes so he must have done something right. That's why I don't buy that keeping guys out of games and lowering their minutes like crazy will keep them injury free.

According to the TNT crew, including Shaq who had such an injury, stick a fork in Bosh for the season unless he gets "the shot." Shaq does not recommend that, as he then came back too soon and injured the other side.

However, for a championship and with months to recover, I suppose we can't rule out "the shot" from keeping Bosh in play for the Finals if Heat make it.
