Since its not certain the Heat will win the championship this season, and that's two season after LeBron and Bosh joined Wade in Miami, its clear that only the best coaches and organizations can win championships.
It's safe to assume that the Spurs would win at least 2 or 3 championships with a team built around Howard, as long as Pop remains the head coach. Right now, Howard has DPOY awards, some stats, but no true legacy. With the Spurs, he would follow the steps or great bigman like Duncan and Robinson. The franchise would also become much more relevant with those additional championships. For adidas, the 'ships could offset the fact that Howard wouldn't play for a big market team.
And about the other options, the Lakers would never be his team because he's more defensive oriented player. The Nets would be similar situation like the Magic. The Knicks aren't very successful either, despite having 'Melo, Amare and Chandler. The Mavs didn't have much success compared with the Spurs, despite having a lot of talent. The Bulls haven't won anything since MJ left. Finally, the Celtics have KG, Pierce and Allen neat retirement, and not much deep besides Rondo. While Manu, Duncan and Jack don't have much time left, the Spurs already have a solid group of prime and young players with great upside.
Naturally, it would be better if Howard joins like FA, to conserve the talent and draft picks. If the Spurs win the 'ship this season, Pop probably won't make trades.
