Spurs question

I was just wondering what is up with Rasho Nesterovich. I'm sure you die hard Spurs can explain it. Did he just lose his spot when Nazr came in? Did he do something to not play? Is there hope for him in the future of the Spurs?

Just trying to find out what the deal is with this guy. Not that I'm a fan of his or anything. :spin

I think he had an injury, and hasn't gotten the spot back.

He had a badly sprained ankle and missed a few weeks. Nazr has taken his spot as the current underachieving center for the Spurs.

He was hurt near the end of the regular season and Nazr played well in his place...up to this series.

I personally would like to see Rasho get some minutes......he is a much better inside defender than Nazr and doesn't get his shot blocked every other time.....Rasho could at least body up Ben and make him work for his numbers.....it would also give a 2nd shot blocker and would help Timmy out on that regard....along with the rebounds.

Rasho hardly takes any shots. In 70 games, averaged 5.9 ppg in 25.5 minutes per game. Plus he's the worst FT shooter on the team (46.7%). About all he gives us is some rebounding and a block or two a game, and against the faster/longer Pistons he's not going to get either.

I can't figure the guy out. He's yet another player who played well elsewhere and came to SA and stunk it up. OK, maybe he had a career year and then came to SA. He actually plays pretty well whenever Duncan gets injured, but when TD is in the game he just shrivels up. Not who we need on the floor in Game 7, thank you.

It looks like the problem is Duncan. Well, he himself is not the problem: finding a counterpart for him is the problem. Duncan-Robinson was classic. Each of them knew exactly what their role was. Its probably hard for a player to play with Duncan: limited touches, often forced to guard the best big man if TD is in foul trouble. Nazr seems like he'd be a perfect counterpart since he plays solid defense, is tall and long, and can throwdown in traffic. He's been stiffled by Wallacex2, though.

A perfect companion to Duncan wount be a strong big man, who is a tremendous defender. And offensively battles for rebounds. It appears we don't have that yet.

The Spurs have one more chance to atone for their lackluster interior play and get Tim some reasonable help.

Nazr's job is very simple. Box out, rebound, and put back some garbage shots. That's all the help Tim really needs, but Nazr has been playing like crap lately.

Hey Nazr, when you DO manage to get an offensive rebound, can you do us all a favor and not do 5 or 6 lame up fakes only to go up and miss a gimme? (in Bill Walton voice) THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN.

uhmmm....last time i checked timmy is in a game seven of the nba finals....something is going right....including the compliment at center..when they win people here talk about the great supporting cast...when they lose its timmy's fault....
