View Full Version : Does any team luck out as much as the Spurs?

1999-bullshit year with a shitty Knicks team making the finals. Asterisk.

2003-Dirk and Webber were injured that year in the playoffs. Relied on luck shooting from Steve Kerr and then went on to play one of the weakest Finals team in recent NBA history

2005-legit title

2007- Lucky that Mavs got eliminated from bullshit half court 3s by Baron. We all know who the best team was that season. Also got benefitted from the Suns suspensions and Tommy Nunez. They then played LeBron and a bunch of scrubs (:lmao Gooden, Gibson, Snow, Big Z etc)

2012?- weakest playoff talent pool in recent memory tbh..Wade hurt, Blake hurt, Griffin hurt, Rose out, Howard out, Pierce and Allen not 100% and the list goes on and on.

Looks like 3 luck/bullshit championships. I guess fans are starting to know it too considering SEMI FINAL tickets are going for under 20$ at times :lmao

Of course, Pop's season long dedication to limiting player's minutes even to the extent of basically forfieting games has nothing do with the fact the Spurs are probably the healthiest team going into the playoffs. Why not point out that the Mavs probably don't even get their first championship if Duncan's ankle injury and Manu's broken arm don't occur last year...:flag:.

If having outstanding offense, great coaching, great management, one of the deepest rosters in the league, and veteran experience means "lucking out," then by all means, the Spurs are one of the luckiest in the NBA.

Maybe the mavs can luck out one day. Something like Deron being stupid enough to think it would be a good career move to spend the prime of his career watching Dirk get old.

This might be a plausible arguement to make if the Spurs were not the season lead by almost any metric of relative strength or had not beaten up on their top three Western opponents 8-3 and absolutely destroyed the league the last half of the season even playing starters and the big three the least minutes. The Spurs ended the season as BY FAR the best team and have won 16 games averaging with a point differential of > ten and closer to 15 in the playoffs and have destroying LAL and other teams along the way with absolute impunity! Right now the LAC with supposed better athletes are pulling down 1 rebound or throwing the ball away in apparent surrender and it is all because of a few little dings - come on you can bring better than this excrement!

So in reality it is pretty lame as Spurs would have won it anyway but nice try!!!

Typical butt hurt moaners of teams with at most one championship in their case - listen I can prescribe some balm or stronger for the hemorrhoids you obviously suffer from....

Way to take the bait, Fish Jesus. Like the prodigal son himself you will be nailed to a piece of wood and hung out to dry, only you will roast by the fireplace while demented old people and dirty children press a button to make your corpse sing songs that nobody ever liked anyway.

FWIW, if you are going to pull the luck card on the Spurs, the place to start is pointing how San Antonio landed two No. 1 picks that turned into David Robinson and Tim Duncan. And 2005 you can point to the Joe Johnson injury and the Dwyane Wade injury.

Tbh, if you are going to troll Spurs fans, at least come with all the goods, IMO.

I don't get it. Do you get a smaller trophy because your championship was "lucky"? Do they give you a less flashy or smaller championship ring because your title was deemed a "fluke?" Are you required to hang a smaller banner from your rafters instead?

Pretty much spot on. The way the Spurs have been winning is not flukey. It's not like they're relying on 3's like last year. Plus the defense is much better. Removing two starters (RJ,Blair) that were defensive sieves has helped. This team looks legit.

Blame Cuban for outsmarting himself. He traded a chance to defend a title for cap space and Lamar Odom. I would have loved for the Mavs to have kept their title team so the Spurs could beat them.

How about .4 ?

How about the bad luck we had in fouling Dirk when Game 7 was ours back in 2000 whatever ?

How about finishing the season with the West's best record and watching Manu break his arm in the last game of the season ?

Yes, lucked out those 3 times.

A sweep isn't luck. If a series goes 7 games and something fluky happens in Game 7 and you win, sure, maybe luck, but a flat out sweep - 4 games to none - isn't luck.
