That is the best way to describe him. He is a special player. And to think he is only a 20 year old rookie. Hopefully he has many great years ahead of him.

There is definitely something wrong with this guy. He is a 20 years old rookie with a perturbed rookie year because of the lockout. He should struggles in the playoffs and turns into a non-factor. I guess he didn't get the memo.

yeah. Watching Kawhi today I was actually remembering watching Duncan destroy Utah in '98 before he got hurt. To have the ability to raise his game like he has is really special. Signature games:

1. The lights go on for Duncan in the '98 playoffs against Utah. A great player took the next step.
2. Parker destroys Payton.
3. Manu and dryer lint take 4 HOF'ers to overtime. Manu was amazing. Favorite regular season game ever.
4. Kawhi pulls an agent Smith and is everywhere on the court at once as part of a 24 point comeback. Damn. Impressive. :toast

Kawhi deserves an S tbh

Kawhi just doing what he supposed to do

Play defense (steal blocks), rebound (9) and make corner 3s

emanueldavidginobili
05-19-2012, 06:44 PM
wow was Kawhi outstanding today, all over the place steals blocks rebounds..he almost always comes out with the loose ball which I love alot about him, and the corner 3 is almost coming automatic for him, I almost expect it to go in everytime he shoots from there

Theres got to be some bizarre causal relationship between the Spurs two rookies this season.

Kawhi Leonard always have the same expression on his face regardless of the event.

Cory Joseph can't help but smile at funerals, prostate exams and IRS audits.

Plus, one player sucks while the other dominates.

Theory: smiling has a directly negative result to on-court production?

I have no words to describe the way Kawhi has performed this season and these playoffs. This is special--had no clue he would blossom the way he has.

He makes me wish I followed him in college. I remember having serious questions about his game after the draft and pre-season. I questioned his motor, athleticism and ball handling.

I can't remember a rookie making this big of an impact on a serious contender that wasn't a Duncan-type; even then it's difficult to come up with any.

He didn't play like this outside of the rebounding in college. In college he would just overpower everyone.

The thing about Kawhi is that he's imrpoved so much and so dramatically through the season that its hard to know where his ceiling is. If he somehow added a mid range game, watch out.

I try not to buy into the hype of a guy who's the 4th or 5th option most times on the court but he definitely has the makings of a player who can put you over the top while being a role player (ala Robert Horry etc etc).

I'm still not sold that he's ever going to be a "star" but I think he'll always be a player that people want on their team.

Remember, this would be his sophomore year in college. With his athleticism (and work ethic), his offensive game has as much room to grow as his defense. He could potentially improve his penetration, his passing, his midrange game... become a pretty complete offensive player. Combine that with the defense and the rebounding, and his ceiling could easily be an All-Star and a #2 or #3 player on a title team.

As always, you never know whether guys will reach that ceiling or not, but my gut feel is that he's a piece we can continue to build around after our current stars start retiring.

3/19/11 realgm scouting report re draft prospect Kawhi:

"Players with saucer hands traditionally have not been outstanding perimeter shooters (Julius Erving, Chris Webber, Shaquille O’Neal, Rajon Rondo), the theory being that it’s akin to a normal person trying to shoot a ping-pong ball. The ball can roll out of the hand’s shooting pocket too easily, something Leonard admits happening to him at times."
