There are 9 teams in the history of the NBA that have won 18 or more straight. Six of them won the championship.

Let's be number 10. It would be a pretty good omen heading into the OKC series.

If they reach 18, they need to make it 20. I don't want to see them lose either of the first 2 at home in the WCF.

This. The bad thing about carrying a long streak into the playoffs is you almost feel you gotta drop one before you're bound to lose one later in the playoffs when it matters more

It's not the streak that matters. It's how the Spurs are playing. If they keep doing the same stuff they will keep winning.

Well if we hit 20, it'd be tied for the 3rd longest winning streak in history. If we sweep the WCF, we'd be tied with the Rockets of a few years back.

Longest NBA winning streak of all time is 33 games. Second-longest is 22 games.

San Antonio has a semi-reasonable shot at getting to 23 consecutive wins.

I'm all for extending the streak past 18. I just don't want to look more than one game ahead. Let's focus on tomorrow.

(And yes, I know that winning streaks matter a great deal less than playing well... but since the milestone is here for the taking, let's get it.)

Considering every team whose streak was stopped at 17 failed to win a championship I think it would be nice for the Spurs to close this one out.

The NBA defines a "close" game as 3 points or less. The Spurs have won all 17 games by 4 points or more. Only one team in NBA history ever won 18 games in a row by 4 points or more; the LA Lakers of Wilt, West, Happy, Gail, and Jim McMillian. They won 33 in a row. And thye won it all.

1960 Celtics had a 17-game streak and won the title. But that's only 1 out of 6.

If we keep winning like this it will look off-ly fishy if we don't win the title.

Would you want the Spurs to win 20 plus games in a row but lose in the Finals? It can happen. Don't take your team for granted.

Streaks, jinxes, all that crap is just bullshit. You play one game at a time. You run your offense, and the Spurs have the best in the league. You get back in transition and you contest shots and hit your rotations.

It's not a coin flip. It's a recipe. Use the same recipe, you should get the same results.

I don't think the Spurs realize they are on a winning streak. I think they just know that they have to go out there and play pop's system to victory in a calm and cool fashion.

Exactly. The Spurs are winning through solid offense and defense.

My pre playoff prediction was 20 straight and then lose 1, then win 4 straight again.

That still sounds good to me.

Very true, because everything about this series changes with the next. Every game is a game 6 or 7. It needs to be treated like that. In the end, I'm not worried about that because Popovich and Duncan have the knowledge of this. They don't need to get "devastated", they will battle back. All I know is, this is just fun to watch. Game in game out. Parker, Green, Leonard, Diaw, Duncan = :lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt:.

Only reason for the spurs to win today's game is so that they could win one more game. Nothing more. Well, may be getting some rest to prep for okc would be a bonus.

streak means nothing.
Tomorrow we start the game at 0-0.

One game at a time. Just win, baby!
