View Full Version : Will Pop play Mills over Neal vs. Thunder?

When we face them in the WCF, is there any chance Pop does this, considering Mills is faster than Neal and can thus have a better shot to keep up with the ultra-fast Thunders team? Neal's offensive awareness has been downright awful in these playoffs, too and I think it's affected Manu's play. Thoughts?

I doubt Pop plays Mills considering he hasn't played any meaningful minutes in the playoffs. Prob won't just throw him into the fire. But you're right about Neal. He's not a PG and it's evident every time he brings the ball up. He continually turns it over/gets stripped and just looks uncomfortable. He's a SG but we don't have many options so I think Pop leaves him at PG unless he really starts to suck against OKC. I think Parker plays heavy minutes in this series too. Hopefully Manu plays much better cause we're going to need him.

No.

Fisher is not fast.

Fisher's not fast, of course, but he plays less minutes than Neal does for our Spurs so that shouldn't factor into this discussion.

Thunder are a good matchup for Neal. Fisher is one of the few PG slow enough for him.

But, yeah, Neal as a PG has been exposed in these playoffs especially against Clippers. While there are some issue with his ballhandling and court vision, the biggest issue is that he is too heavy to play that position. If Spurs want to continue with Neal as PG next year, they better put him n a diet this summer. Neal with 20lbs less and with some work o his ballhandling and court vision, could be a decent backup PG.

It could be a problem if Spurs play Celtics in the finals and Doc River plays Avery Bradley extended minutes as backup pg.It will be like Lindsey Hunter-Beno Udrih 2005 mismatch all over again.

To be fair the Neal-SJax-Manu lineup as a whole might be the most turnover prone we can come up with (talking about Manu as a PG).

If Mills is playing against the Thunder something has gone terribly wrong.

Lol, they have Fisher as backup. Neal can handle this old fart.

Either that, or it's the 4th quarter and we're up by 25. :lol

Let's worry about getting there first.

Pop didn't play Mills yesterday. That's enough evidence to prove that he won't see any non-garbage minutes vs. the Thunder.

Expecting Neal to have a much better series next round, TOSB Fisher ain't gonna stop him.
