I can see Notre Dame joining the Big 10 long before joining the Big 12
Notre Dame will go to whichever conference will give them the most demands they are requesting.
At this point it could be any confernce sans the Big East and SEC, but more likely the Big 12 or Big 10.

TCU being in the DFW metroplex is probably the smart team to put out East as it makes the long travel much easier and cheaper.
BU, ISU, KSU, TT, and OSU for travel purposes need to stay in the West
KU, blOwU, and Texas are in or very near bigger cities and travel to those cities is cheap enough that it makes sense for those schools to be put in the East.
Of course the question is do you try to balance the two divisions or do you make your decision based on cost of travel?
If Cost, then you move TCU, Texas, and KU to the East along with WVU, Clemson, and FSU. with the other side being blOwU and the 5 dwarfs

It's not about TCU travel, it's about travel for the new members.
What is easier, Clemson to travel to DFW or Ames Iowa, or Manhatten KS, or Stillwater OK.
DFW is a travel hub and for all the east schools it's much easier to get to TCU and easier for TCU to get to them than it is for ISU to get to Clemson, or Talahassee, or Morgan Town.

Won't happen. All the Texas teams will stay in the same division.
especially if the league goes to 16 by adding Miami and Notre Dame for example. I think it's obvious that all expansion from here on out will come east of Texas.

Right now the talk is 12, hold for a few years, then add 2 to 4 more.
If the Big 12 stops at 12 it then makes sense to move TCU to the East, when they add the others then it makes sense to move TCU back and keep all the Texas schools together.

I think your right about the total of 12 for the near future, but if the right set of schools (say VT, miami, fsu, clemson) all group themselves together then you almost have to make the jump to 14 right now. ND seems to be the wild card in all of this but I just cant see them jumping into a league anytime soon...
VT will end up in the SEC when this is all said and done.

I agree with blake about the 4 superconferences and if the B12 does manage to poach Clemson and FSU that pretty much ends the debate between the B12 and the ACC about who would be the 4th. The SEC would certainly see that as an opportunity to try and get into the North Carolina and Virginia markets.

According to Orangebloods' Chip Brown, the latest school to join the conference re-alignment rumor mill is Georgia Tech, who has reached out to the Big 12 in recent weeks:
One of my best sources in the Big 12 just indicated that Georgia Tech has also put out informal feelers to the Big 12 about the Big 12's potential expansion plans, and that source said Georgia Tech would be very appealing as a potential expansion target because of its strong academics.
This is how these things go. With all the legalities involved the AD's stay away and let lower tier employees due all the work until the lawyers say it is ok to come out of hiding. Not saying it going to happen or that the big will expand, but to think schools like GT,FSU,Miami, etc have not contacted the big 12 is pretty stupid..

Do you think an official is lying about this situation right now?
Why would an official from school X come out and say they have talked to Conference A?
All that does is put that official in a corner and in the spotlight, when feelers can be used to gauge interest with out putting a school official in a corner and can simply deny the talks ever occurred until a final decision is made.
Of course not.

What you do not know will not hurt you...In this case where lawsuits are prevalent and where talking about 10's of millions of $, it is best for the Big 12 to stay clear of any official talk of expansion. So to answer your question, No I do not believe any direct contact has been made by any AD's from the big 12 to the ACC Ad's. Has there been contact by non-employed school officals or 3rd parties, yes I believe there has been between the conferences.

Sure. An official would deny any expansion rumors until a final decision was made, then would detail what talks (if any) occurred.
Like Nebraska, when they denied talks with the Big 10 until a decision was made. You then heard about the private plane meetings with Osbourne and Delany.
A school official would also not make the initial contact to a particular conference about expansion/invitation. They would use third parties, similar to how head coaches are lured away from current positions. Almost like a head hunter agency I guess would be the best way to describe it.

That is not my choice, but the common answer by these school officials is to deny the talks. Just par for the course I guess.

The Big 10 made a formal announcement in late 2009 they wanted to expand.
This was Osborne in early 2010:
With two of their conference brethren firmly attached to the Big Ten expansion rumor mill, Nebraska has made it known that they’d be willing to listen to expansion overtures.
Speaking to the Lincoln Journal Star, athletic director Tom Osborne said he had yet to hear from the conference but made it clear that the call would be answered if anyone wanted to pick up the phone and inquire about his school’s level of interest.
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/12/nebraska-to-big-ten-dont-forget-about-us/
since Nebraska joined a few months later, Id say the timing sounds right.
Did any other Nebraska officials deny talks with the Big10?
lying for legal reasons makes no sense.
True. But if people didn't lie for legal reasons there would be no such thing as perjury. Now perjury doesn't apply in these scenarios. I just responded to your questions as to why I thought an official would come out and say that talks have not happened if they really have. They were just guesses, not absolutes.
The Big 10 made a formal announcement in late 2009 they wanted to expand.
True in December of 2009.
Back in Lincoln, though, the announcement caused hardly a stir.
“I don't see any indication Nebraska is looking to go to another conference at this point,'' Osborne said in a radio interview that day.
Which was true at the time.
Did any other Nebraska officials deny talks with or desire to join the Big10?
Regent chairman Bob Phares said in June of 2010 that, “No. 1, there’s been no vote by the board at all,” Phares said. “No. 2, as I understand it, there are no invitations that are extended. You decide if you wish to make an application and then they react to your application."
“And I heard that there were reports that Tom Osborne had advised all of his staff that it was a done deal. You can talk to Tom and see what his comment is. I would be immensely surprised if that was the case, because as I said, there’s been no vote by the board and no formal decision.”
You can read into to their implications but there is no direct confirmation.
Also denied on both accounts in May of 2010:
Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he'd heard nothing from Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany regarding Missouri and Nebraska. Delany has insisted he would contact any conference commissioner affected by expansion before making official offers.
Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman responded, "None whatsoever," when asked by the Lincoln Journal-Star if there was any vaildity to the Kansas City report.

I don't see anyone lying here. Do you?
I don't see anyone lying here. Do you?
Can't say for sure because I don't have all the facts. I see denials, but short of being a board of regent member, Delany, Perlman, or Osbourne I can not say for sure in that particular scenario that anyone is lying. Depends on how deep one wants to read into it.
Each scenario is different and has different variables so to say they all "lie" or they "always" tell the truth is not true.
Blake

Can't say for sure because I don't have all the facts.

a new interview out at TigerNet with Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips does shed some insight on the mindset he says that ACC teams have at this point. He definitely doesn't admit to anything linking Clemson to the Big 12. However he admits the importance of football above all else -- and that schools have to act accordingly.
"There are a lot of things that I or anybody can't control," said Phillips. "The only thing that I feel confident in saying is that I believe that the ACC understands the challenges that we have going forward that football is strong and gets stronger. We cannot afford to lose our seat at the table when it comes to the BCS and championships going forward. We simply cannot afford to allow that to happen. The conference and the conference leadership, as well as the presidents, understand the importance that has to be placed on football going forward."

You're telling me to prove a negative
Truly innocent people are asked to prove a negative in courts on a daily basis.
You not being able to prove your not a cuckhold is not shocking to anyone here.
It was just a message board shit rumor I just made up.
First off it was obviously a play on words joke. I guess I shouldn't say obvious because you didn't get it. Shocking.
So if you have a penchant for making things up on message boards as you just admitted to how can anyone believe your statement that your not a cuckhold.
I don't get it.
Nailed it..Very few threads here that aren't imploded by this guy.
That is what happens when you have self-esteem problems. It is obvious dude was dealt a crappy hand in life and he takes it out on posters here. Pretty sad honestly.

Probably because we have sucked for the last decade :sleep
You're missing the point. In a little over a month, we will officially be in the best damn conference in the history of collegiate athletics. It wont matter then.

SEC has won the championship in Football, Basketball, Indoor Track, Women's Tennis, Women's Golf and Gymnastics. Throw in the A&M Equestrian National Championships and the soon to be men's track 4 peat national champions and you'll be hard pressed to find a sport the SEC isn't winning at.

Didn't the Cowboys represent the Big 12 in a BCS bowl game? Didn't they have a good showing?
Remember the last time the aggsy represented the Big 12 in a big bowl game? Remind me what they did? I can't remember when was the last time the aggsy represented the Big 12 in a BCS bowl? What happened? How old were you when it happened?
You know why the aggsy need the SEC, because they got tired of spinning their tires in the Big 12 and they felt if They're going to get their teeth kicked in might as well claim to do it with the big boys.
I don't usually pimp the conference, I'm a Texas fan, but 77-0 should have gotten you freaks kicked out of the conference. Remember that day well, it's probably written in your future over and over and over again.

It is crazy what a laughing stock atm is nationwide thinking they will compete in the SEC. All they really accomplished is opening up Texas to SEC recruiting. They will STILL be second fiddle in Texas, and they never came close to winning the B12, so them thinking they have a snowball's chance in hell of competing in the SEC they are crazy. Their bowls will be farther away, thus less home attendance. They bulk of their travelling will be WAY longer than in the B12, thus higher costs for an already bankrupt AD, none of their championships will be anywhere near Texas (where Texas teams have always held a distinctive home advantage), they go from being one of the overwelmingly better home crowds in their league to just another away game.
In 16 seasons, you finished 68-61 in the B12, by all your accounts a lesser league than the SEC, which means you would have been lucky to be .500 in the SEC. That record would actually marry up with Ole Miss in the 2000s, which was 9th overall in the conf at around 62-58. Couple that with 4 of the 5 best SEC teams of the same time period being in the west division where atm will be... I find it very likely atm would have been below .500 in the conf and that is where I would expect them to fall today.
The negatives, all so they don't have to be UT's little b!tch, by FAR outweigh the positives. And yet all they can come back with is, "Yeah, but we are in the SEC."
atm, meet Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss State - your new peers. Congrats!

Aggsy fan should know that he can't come out and say "Moving to the Big 12 would be great, I can't wait til we are there" If he did and it didn't happen he would have egg on his face and it would make Clemson look like Missouri. All he can do is play the company like until something substancial is in play. Clemson is not stupid like aggsy or Missoui, neither is FSU. No one is going to say anything until everything is legally worked out.

Head coach, reporters tend to shove a mike in your face, especially in a charged off-season such as this with so much change riding on the line. He has to say something, might as well deflect than open up your university for a law suit. I thought aggsy would understand that, oh wait, I said aggsy.
