BREAKING: Warriors Moving to SF in 2017 (http://www.warriorsworld.net/2012/05/20/breaking-warriors-moving-sf-2017/)

According to @GSWFastBreak, the Warriors have finalized plans to move from Oakland to San Francisco in 2017. The move would provide the Warriors with a brand new, modern, multi-use arena on Pier 30/32 that would be utilized not only for basketball but other various events. The privately funded arena — assuming all goes smoothly — would cut the tape before the 2017-2018 season.

The move to San Francisco shouldn’t be a surprise as owner Joe Lacob has made it clear of his plans for a move since his ownership began. Oracle Arena is currently the oldest arena in the NBA — it first opened in 1966 — and while renovations took place before the 1996-1997 season, the rust was clearly showing.

While many Warriors fans have fond memories of the arena, the move to San Francisco should be met with open arms. The move not only provides fans with a new arena, but gives potential free agents, players and coaches added incentive to come to the organization. Whether admitted or not, San Francisco is simply a sexier destination than Oakland.

Time and time again the Warriors have lost out on free agents, and while Oakland might not be the sole reason of players hesitance towards committing to sign, it surely didn’t help the cause.

The Warriors will now have a new home in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, awarding fans for their constant loyalty that has been apparent throughout their stay in Oakland.

An official announcement is expected next week.

Why are you a bolded Warriors fan yet you don't have your team's colors? Weird.

sons what they are basically doing is getting away from the black folk and heading closer to the money in that area. can't blame em

Oakland = 30% black

San Francisco = 6% black (85% white and Asian)

Oakland is lucky to have the A's and Raiders too. It's a shithole of a city and all the opposing teams stay in SF when they're in town because it's a shithole.

Give SF the Warriors and give the Raiders to LA. If they can't build a new stadium for the A's then they should move too.

Fuck Oakland and their destitute fan base.

Their name could be the same.Golden State Warriors.

I find annoying the move of franchises and change of their names in the professional leagues. They should stop it. If you want the change of city then the franchise should disappear and let's gonna create a new one.

Guess that's why people love the college teams like we love professional teams in Europe. They are the teams of your city forever

You can't love the same a team that could be elsewhere in the future. You can't have a great fanbase. It's not a surprise what happens in Charlotte or New Jersey.

Teams like Knicks,Celtics,Lakers or Spurs will likely to stay forever so they have true fans. But there are a few exceptions

Driving across the bay takes half an hour and an hour in heavy traffic.

Free agents didn't sign because SF was a half hour drive? Please.
Either way, the bay area is a great place to live, visit, vacation, etc.

Real estate property values. Probably would cost $300 million to build that exact same building in Memphis or Oklahoma City.

Not exactly a pretty city but I do drive up there once or twice a year to each my raiders lose :lol haven't seen a raiders win in Oakland since 2006. Oddly they went 2-14 that year and I just so happens to catch half of their wins

The new arena looks good, might be the best in the NBA when you account their crowd.

Well to be honest, I didn't know Oracle was in Oakland San Francisco nor cared to look it up because I thought it was an adequate arena for the team. Looking at how far its located on GE, I'm guessing they want their venue closer to home.

Some Alliance has been fighting the construction on this tooth and nail, claiming it'll wreck havoc on traffic and interfere with the hospital nearby.

I hope it does't fuck up traffic tbh, I live too close to that arena. The highway ramp into the city is already turning into a nightmare during rush hour.

Flew into Oakland a few weeks ago and had to take the bridge into San Fran around 4pm. The traffic on it was horrendous. Took almost an hour to get across IIRC.

Yeah...only used the Bay bridge a couple of times. Went to buy stuff at IKEA when I first moved and yup....Saturday at 5PM...took an hour. Not making that mistake again.
