View Full Version : Last two teams to sweep the first two rounds lost in the Conference Finals

You were warned Spurs fans. Hopefully for your sake, your Spurs don't wind up like the 2009 Cavs or the 2010 Magic. Both teams swept the first two rounds but shat a brick in the Conference Finals. It would be an epic fail for the Spurs to suck ass in the WCF and not make it to the Finals.
If you go 8-0 in the first two rounds, you have to get to the Finals in order for your journey not to be a fail.

Yeah, I made a mistake. What else is new? All the Dirk and Mav haters are jizzing tonight. I just took a xanax so I'm kind of mellowing down. And I've recently started to reconsider suicide. And before you bitch me out or call me a pussy, this has nothing to do with the Mavs. I'm miserable right now in my life and I'm starting to come to a breaking point. I'm stuck at a dead end job with shitty pay and I get treated like a piece of shit too there. No respect at all. I am a hopeless piece of shit and prick. I wasted 5 and a half years in college in the hopes of possibly getting a good paying job or at least a decent paying job. I've been stuck in retail for almost 3 years making a whopping 15K a year. How am I ever going to be happy making shitty money like that? Sorry for the rant, I think it's the xanax kicking in.

Really? Get some new material. I mean if you're going to insult me or try to troll me, at least show some effort and put some thought into it.

Hopefully bro. Hopefully. Albeit those two teams were pretty atrocious. Outside both team's superstars they were complete garbage.

I mean when your next best player is Rashard Lewis you got issues.

Bringing in zombie Shaq to certify the center position doesn't do justice either.

Anybody can sweep their way into the conference finals in the East.

Yeah, Spurs are fucked. 18 in a row pretty much seals the deal imo.

This Spurs team is much better than those 2 mentioned.

I didn't say it was going to happen. I just said it could happen. Overconfidence can be a killer.

Many people in your position or worse. Pain is a good motivator to make things happen in a positive way.

Two teams is hardly a large enough statistical sample size to draw conclusions.

Its not a failure at this point.

Spurs hadn't smelled the conference finals in for a minute now, if they end up losing to OKC it would not be because of lack of effort.

As long as Thunder dont sweep the Spurs or isn't at least a competitive series, its not gonna bother me.

I'm just saying that if the Spurs have to win the championship, I want them to struggle a little bit and face some competition and adversity for a change. It would be nice to see them finally trail an NBA Finals series.

Interesting, I'd never realized that before (that the Spurs have never trailed in the Finals.)

The Spurs have it easy in pretty much every playoff series they've played in the 4 years that they've hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy. I mean be honest, excluding the 2005 NBA Finals, the Spurs have never been challenged, faced adversity, or been tested. I want them to be tested, face adversity, and face some fuckin' competition in the playoffs.

Spurs - Nets was tougher than it looked (remember, NJ stole HCA in Game 2).

Jacob1983

Don't sweep the first two rounds in the NBA playoffs because you won't make it to the Finals. Is it a recent curse?
