we'll win the next 5 championships. We have better roster than 2003 team which was the beginning of 3 out of 5 championships.

One can wonder.

Then we would not have had championships in 99, 03 and 05.

I'd rather have 4 in the bag.

If Duncan and Manu were in their prime their (respectively) $20m and $10m contracts would run for a while and there's no way we could pay Parker, Diaw, Green, Splitter and Leonard for the next 5 years.

Prime Duncan will outweigh a few losses.

The big 4 were great, but lack of depth and age were costly at times. It nearly cost us 2005 championship with a 7 man team.Thank god for Horry's clutch contributions in games 5 and 7 of that series.

No torn meniscus in 00, no .4 sec Fisher miracle in 04, they would be playing for #7 for sure.

So much of winning the title is luck and intangibles. We've been on both sides of that coin. Luckily for us we've been on the winning side more often.

I think that the Spurs only missed one championship, the 06. But it was within the possibilities to lose to the Mavs someday, tbh. They always had good teams. Duncan played injured in 05 and was good but not in his prime anymore in 07. So, 12 Duncan is as good as Duncan was in 05 and 07, though. Parker is in his prime. And the two injuries had taken the best of Manu this season, tbh. Fortunately, the Spurs also have Green and Neal.

Agree for the '06.

Imagine? Why? not now...the team is still doing well. I can see Mavs fans having this discussion to make the horrible reality of a bad season and possibly a big change next year feel soothing. Spurs are rocking and I would think next year also. Lets have this topic back in say about 3 more years and then I'll smile and be like, "damn that would have been bad ass"
