I know the Spurs are just rolling right now but 5 games? the Thunder aren't no chumps, Westbrook Durant and Harden are studs, it will be pivotal for Manu to come to play, and Ibaka and Perkins are a force in the paint, they're a good team.

I don't see the Spurs losing this series.

The Spurs have a player in Kawhi that could trouble Durant enough to give them real problems. They remind me of an earlier version of the Spurs where a win depended heavily on the big 3 showing up. The Thunder's scoring seems to rely heavily on Durant/Westbrook/Harden. Our team is less dependent on any one player going off. I give our bench a definite edge in this matchup.

The Thunder are a jumpshooting team in the true sense whereas a lot of our points have been in the paint with Tim's emergence and Tony's proclivity for scoring close to the basket. We do like to shoot 3's but we are also the best team around at doing it.

I just don't see us losing 4 games to any team the way we are playing right now. Even less so with home court advantage. I can see the contest going 6 games with us squeaking one out in OKC but I think there is the possibility of winning in 5 - especially if Manu returns to form.

No sweep, but 5 or 6 is a reasonable expectation. OKC's first two opponents were drowning in identity crises. The Mavs couldn't get it back together after blowing up their championship team and Kobe was calling out teammates by name after losses, he set that locker room on fire. The Spurs are the exact opposite right now, they're in control of their game and all on the same page. Mavs and Lakers both blew 4th quarter leads in Oklahoma City. If in the same situation, I think the Spurs will be able to hold on.

Has a team ever swept all series to the NBA finals?

2001 Lakers did it and then won the Finals 4-1. But back then the first round was a 5 game series so they made the Finals at 11-0. If the Spurs sweep the Thunder (very unlikely) they would make the Finals at 12-0.

thunder have some pretty capable defenders. perkins might shut down duncan in the low post, ibaka will be patrolling the paint against parker's drive, sefolosha and harden can smother an already struggling ginobili, and durant can always play solid defense when he needs to. i predict a very tough series. how will the spurs respond if they no longer get easy shots?

Yuixafun

5 games.

As mentioned, Dallas and Lakers are the polar opposite of who the Spurs are at this point of the season.

Spurs are fresh, in harmony, sharp, selfless... full of hungry unafraid youngsters and men in the latter half of their careers driven to taste the Championship one more time.

I always remember that Timmy interview where he said he wants a Bill Russell trophy.

They might have the bigger guns, but we have more ammo and more weapons.

I keep saying this time and time again but so many people are overatting the thunder they are just a jump shooting team that could of easiley lost to dallas and the lakers had they not of chocked away their 4 quater leads in OKC, Spurs are a much better overall team and will out excute the thunder not expecting blowout wins but wins none the less. Spurs should finish this in 5 games 4 tbh wouldn't be shocking though the way the team is currentley playing. Also those who doubt kawhi can't handle Durant will be eating crow dude has shown up to play each time he has gone up against durant I don't know why but playing the thunder brings out the best in Kawhi and it will show this series.

I just dont see how the thunder can beat the spurs but thats my prediction, like I said im seeing this as spurs in 5 the first 2 games at home steal one at okc and finish them off in 5 but again that is just my prediction I could be wrong, at the end of the day we could talk all we want but lets see who turns out right once this series is over. Also even though I said overatting your thunder I meant along the lines off I don't think there as good as people are making them out to be but I dont expect an easy win in this series I expect each one to come down to the wire.

I got Spurs in 6

Game 1- Spurs big 3 fresh from rest play big games collectively
Game 2-Thunder win.Spurs dropped 1st home game.
Game 3- Predict Spurs blow out of series.Bombs away from the arc
Game 4- Thunder win.OKC big 3 come up huge
Game 5-Close game but Spurs depth comes alive and overwhelms OKC late 3rd and 4th.
Game 6-Nail bitter-My man Gary Neal goes off in 4th quarter.Duncan hits game winner over Ibaka.West-bricks last shot.

Spurs are Western Conference champions.

So many times in sports, the games do not live up to the hype. And make no mistake, there will be a lot of hype for this series ... heck, I'm expecting an epic battle. That's why a lopsided result might not be too shocking.

I am not underestimating OKC at all. They are a great team, but I'm going with the Spurs in 5. A 5-game series might not qualify as epic ... but I expect each game to be epic (something to the level of Spurs-Mavs '06 ... the most entertaining series of all time IMO, sadly with a bad ending).

OKC is really, really good. They will undoubtedly be the most formidable opponent, and biggest challenge, the Spurs will face in this year's playoffs. I also believe that which ever team wins this series will win the NBA championship.

Having said all that, I have two slightly bold predictions:
1. If the Spurs hold serve and win their 2 games in S.A., they will likely sweep the Thunder.

2. If the Spurs manage to sweep the Thunder, regardless of who the Eastern Conference opponent is, they will then run another sweep in the NBA Finals, thereby becoming the first team in NBA history to go undefeated in route to an NBA Championship.

You heard it here first.

if we sweep OKC then we'll also sweep Miami/Boston... I just don't see it happen. I'm not afraid of OKC, cause they are the same thing as Miami is with their 3 players. The Spurs will just have to limit one of them. I guess Westbrook won't be scoring 30 a game, but if Durant, Westbrook and Harden do score around 70-80 then we're fucked. Both teams are shooting teams, but we also got bigs that can do some great things on offense, while OKC with Perks and Ibaka are not really that great. Plus, there is Sefolosha who's there just to play defense. I do think Tim will have a tought time under the rim and won't score 20+ every game, but that's OK if our shooters and our bench guys play good. It will be a good series, I hope it's Spurs in 6, but I wouldn't be that surprised if OKC wins it.

I don't know why people think this is going to be a sweep. OKC still has the best pure scorer in the game, one of the most athletic (though not the smartest) point guards in the game right now, and a smart, crafty play-maker and scorer coming in as the 6th man, not to mention plenty of defensive oriented players. Replace that pure scorer with the GOAT PF and it sounds as close as a Spurs team earlier in the decade than anything else that has come along.

Clearly they are nowhere near as defensive oriented as those earlier Spurs teams. Plus the difference between the impact Duncan had on those teams and the one Durant has on the Thunder are completely different since Duncan is more of a 2-way player. The point is, given the similarities between the two, I wouldn't dismiss the Thunder so casually.

I can't see the Spurs losing. Spurs in 6 at most. They have had the Thunders number the past few years, and always seem to have the mental edge.

I remember a game between the two teams (last season maybe?) where the Spurs won and Durant looked frustrated and confused as he was leaving he court. He couldn't/can't figure out a way to beat the veteran Spurs.

the thunder are a good team
sweeping them would be the biggest shock in nba

This and I don't see that happening. I'll say Spurs in 6.

The Thunder blew their opportunity for one tonight. Spurs turn the ball over, can't hit a three and miss free throws.

They still win the game.
