He does relatively well against the Thunder for some reason. If he gets burn, he better be ready.

Against OKC this season he averaged 11 and 6 in 23 minutes.

Blair should actually get a shot against OKC. He's actually been pretty dominant.

With Diaw in the fold Blair should and will stay right where he's at.

OKC has Ibaka and Collison to matchup with Blair. His lack of size gives him an edge.

I say give him a shot. Put him before bonner

blair isn't consistent...on any given night he may go off for 20/10. worth putting him in for a bit to see if it's one of those nights.

Against OKC this season he averaged 11 and 6 in 23 minutes.

Those are basically Splitter's numbers and Splitter has a higher FG% and better defense. The only question is if you want to play him over Bonner and Bonner has the ability to take the OKC bigs out of the paint where they're not comfortable.

I imagine Blair really wanted to play against Utah and LA as well.

just seems like he's psyching himself up and staying positive for when/if he plays next series. nothing wrong with that. you never know. random injury, foul trouble, we may need him.

He better get ready. Bonner might AGAIN not make his shots and I think he'll be worth the try.

He's had quite a bit of rest, and several days until the next game.

Don't see Pop deviating from what he's already doing. Heck, he chose to go twin towers against the Clips instead of going to Blair when Diaw got in foul trouble.

Barring injury and/or foul trouble, I don't see him playing in anything but garbage time.

Put him in and see how he does. He'll be motivated to play at the very least.

I think Blair is a good match up if we need somebody to bang with Perkins, since Perkins isn't that athletic & quick, nor he's long enough or good enough to shoot from outside. While shorter, i think Blair girth and length will be efffective against this particular opponent. BUT, need to be on short leash, has to rebound effectively in defense & not trying to force issue in offense.

I think he could get some min here. I dont care one way or the other as long as it isnt too many min.

Spurs edge will be going "small" at he 4 with Bonner/Diaw to draw Ibaka out of the lane, that or we torch them from the corner.

I wouldn't be opposed to a short trial to see how Blair does. OKC is actually a decent matchup for him given that none of their bigs really have a post game, so he shouldn't be as much of a liability of defense due to his size. However I think you've got to give Bonner a chance before Blair given that:
A. IF (and its a big one) Bonner is hitting his shots it will bring OKC's bigs out of the paint making things easier for the rest of the team, as opposed to Blair having to work in the lane
B. 3 points is better than 2
C. If Blair isn't a liability on D then chances are Bonner won't be especially since he doesn't gamble on steals as often as Blair.

I definitely don't miss his circus shots. I prefer Splitter's dunks and layups.

I'd keep Bonner on a very short leash tbh.

Unless the thunder go small Bonner is going to be guarded by Collison for most of the series. Who is mobile enough to guard Bonner out on the perimeter. And he is going to be a problem on the offensive glass for Matt.

Remember when Bonner made Collision look like Kareem? Hopefully Bonner can start finding his shot. The argument in the past was there wasn't a big enough sample size. If he knocks down a couple of shots he can make this series much easier.

I don't think he'll get much time because of how well Diaw is playing, but it's nice to know that we have a backup option should one of our bigs go down. Blair really does play well against OKC since their frontcourt isn't very tall or too agile. Plus Ibaka isn't a very good man defender, he gets almost all his blocks jumping in from the blind side for a help defense block. . .not a straight up post defense block.

"Hopefully and if Bonner"...The story of Bonner's playoff career, tbh.

Anything Bonner can do, Diaw can do better. Not to mention passing, defense, abilities Bonner doesn't possess.

As for Blair, the fact is, we don't really need him. Duncan's playing out of his mind, so it's doubtful Blair would get many touches if he did get significant minutes.

Not too many Spurs players are active on twitter. Kawhi has one but hasnt used it since november 2011. Pretty much since training camp started.

Why are people talking about Perkins, OKC's Center, who would just grab rebounds over Blair's head like Bynum.

Blair actually decreases Duncan's efficiency making him more of a jump-shooter while Diaw increases his efficiency with his passing and spacing.

Then you can make the argument that we see a Tiago/Tim lineup from time to time. Well this lineup while offensively so so can grab every rebound especially with Kawhi at the 3 so that makes up for it.

Plus OKC is likely to go small a lot against us so the minutes at the 4 might not be high in the first place.

Bonner will be the second big off the bench vs OKC. He's a big reason why we match up well against them. Their bigs tend to close out poorly on him.

If Bonner continues to shoot poorly, bring in the Grizzly and see if his mojo vs OKC is still there

Drz

Lots of posts in this thread saying Bonner needs to shoot well. That's not true. He needs to park his ass on the 3 point line and space the floor for Tony. Whether his shots fall or not is near irrelevant.

The idea that if he misses his first few shots the Thunder would then say, "oh, I guess we don't need to close out on Bonner, we'll just keep our bigs stacked in the paint" is ludicrous and would never, never, never, never, NEVER happen.
