View Full Version : Should I hedge my bets on Spurs?

Ok, I don't want to seem like a bad fan, but I'm thinking from a good business sense perspective.

Back around the 1st of April, I made two bets on Spurs.

$100 to win $400 on Spurs to win the Western Conference title

$100 to win $1000 for them to win the NBA championship.

Last night, a buddy of mine(who is loaded) who loves the Thunder was telling me how Spurs do not have a chance, blah blah blah...so I told him that if he was so confident, he should give me the same 4-1 odds on Spurs winning series, that I got 7 weeks ago.....low and behold, he gave me the same $100 to win $400 bet. :king

Ok , now if SA wins series against Thunder I win $800, and a good chance to pick up another $1000 in the championship game, if they lose, I lose the $200, plus the $100 I have bet on the championship for a loss of $300.

I just went to my betting site and here are odds in Thunder-Spurs series:

May 27 881 THUNDER SERIES +145
8:30 PM 882 SPURS SERIES -175

Now my question to you guys is, would I be a bad fan to bet $200 on Thunder to win $290 in order to guarantee that I am "free rolling"?

I would lose the $300, but gain back $290 if Thunder win.

If Spurs win, I lose the $200, but win $800 and have great chance to pick up another grand in Championship for a profit of $1600.

So I lose $10 or win $1600.

What do you guys think?

Of course you should hedge your bet. Not even a question.

Do it. Money is money so cover your ass. GNSF will probably call you a homo or something, but most of their posts are virtually invisible to me anyway.

You would be a bad fan.

For shame.

But not a dumb one.

Even better I should bet on Thunder to win it all. I get a better price, and I would think that if they can beat Spurs, they would be a lock to win it all.

Yes 100%, just like last year winner of the Miami/Chicago series was a lock to win.

You should never bet on teams/fighter you support tbh.

Usually I lose betting on my teams, but I have to admit, I've been banking on Spurs this year. They have covered spread a lot.

I would have thought you could have gotten better odds way back in April. The smart move is to Hedge the bets if you can do it.

You betting on an OKC win is always good for the Spurs.

You betting on an OKC win is always good for the Spurs.

:lol

You're right, I never thought of my jinxing capabilities....The Thunder fans should have pooled their money and just given my a few hundred just so I would not bet on them.
