Not quite as good as 71-72 LA though, since the win streak would only be 26. :depressed

I'd say yes. That would put them to 37-2 in 4 months.

You'd easily be one of the top 5 best teams ever. I think Simmons wrote an article about this recently

No matter what this Spurs team accomplishes, I doubt they get considered one of the greatest teams of all time by the media since they lack a dominant superstar (unless Duncan turns back the clock to '03, but with the way the Spurs play team ball, I doubt Timmy has a chance to put up big numbers, even if he somehow did revert to his peak). It might be unfair, but it's how sports journalism works nowadays.

oh my God no

son they wouldn't even crack the top 50 teams of all time. this is a shortened season that no one will even remember 10 years down the road. no matter what anyone says (99% Spurs fans that is), shortened seasons are not on the same level as a full season. these playoffs have been a complete and utter joke and that is a direct result of the season being shortened.

Quite true, though that was unintentional. All my predictions have been horrible tbh. :lol

Lefty ought to create a OKC-Heat Finals Game 1 thread to lift the curse and unlike some of you'all, i actually think OKC might come out on top. They're clicking on all cylinders. I just hope we don't lose the first two games.

LMAO comparing Jordan's Bulls to Duncan's Spurs :lol :lmao :rollin

The Stockton-Malone Jazz would have killed the Spurs in the Finals if they were allowed to meet in the Finals.

The Gary Payton - Shawn Kemp Sonics would have killed the Spurs in the Finals.

The 1992 Blazers and 1993 Suns both would have also killed the Spurs in the Finals.

No comparison. This is a lockout season, so it's all moot, but that '96 Bulls team would beat almost any other team in a 7 game series, while this Spurs team isn't even the best of the Duncan era.

No chance. I like the way Bill Simmons put it; the Jazz became good all of a sudden because Seattle, Houston, and Phoenix all fell off a cliff at the same time. There's no way to realistically think they were at their best with a 35 year old Malone. They fattened up off the weakest Western Conference since the mid 80s.

Jacob1983
05-23-2012, 02:50 AM
Yes, the Jazz would have beaten the Spurs to death in the Finals. The only reason why the Jazz lost the Finals two years in a row was because they had to play Jordan in the Finals. If they had played the Pacers in 1998, they would have won the championship that year.

baseline bum
05-23-2012, 03:14 AM
Eh, they got beaten by a Bulls team with a 5% Scottie Pippen on their homecourt. Indiana would have eliminated them too.

Jacob1983
05-23-2012, 03:19 AM
Nope. Joseph Smith would have led them to victory. He had no chance against Jordan but would have a chance against Reggie Miller.

this spurs team is built around the rules now, while 96 were rules 16 years ago, it's pointless to compare them.
