View Full Version : is Game 3 is A MUST WIN ?

I see this game will be decided by halftime. If we come out aggressively early and if everyone is scoring and if we are close or beating them by half, I see us potentially going up 3-0.

But knowing how energetic those young guns of OKC will be at home, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a blowout by halftime. If OKC is winning by margin of 20+ points, I see Pop sitting all the starters down and blair might actually get some action. But that makes game 4 a MUST Win

I dont think this game is a must win, but it would be nice to go up 3-0 to shut all the haters up

The only "must win" games are games in which a team is facing elimination, so no, game 3 is nowhere near a must win for the Spurs. That said, all the Spurs have to do is hold home court from here on out, and they'll win the title. Any wins in addition to that will be gravy.

It's not often an NBA game is decided by halftime, especially when you're dealing with two teams who have the offensive capabilities than these 2 teams have.

Absolutely. If the Spurs lose, they will be drawn and quartered at dawn.

You will never stiffle the haters. The Spurs could foe foe foe foe and there would be a small blurb about it on ESPN's NBA website by Stein and the rest of the summer would be talk about Dwight.

And don't listen to people who say your first post(s) should not be new threads. Start a new thread with every original idea. It's likely no one else has thought of it.

For OKC..

Spurs will likely be down at the half hopefully no more than 10. Just give themselves a chance in the 4th qtr..

The only must win games are 1,2,5, and 7. Everything else is icing on the cake my friend. But I'd be pumped to get game 3 and really drown the thunder.

Agreed. The Spurs need to come out and win this game. There is no sense in giving the Thunder any confidence by allowing them to win this game. If the Spurs steal a game 3 win, the series is over.

Bullshit. Sure the Spurs take it one game at a time and would certainly like to win this one...but must win? Pfffft. Barring major injury to the big three does anyone in here REALLY believe OKC is going to win 4 out of the next 5 games?

Apparently so. It's all over if the Spurs don't win tonight. The Spurs MUST WIN this game.

That right there is why it's a must win.

Not a must win. But would be awesome to suck the life out the team and building. I'd much rather them win Game 4 if any and then finish em off at home.

"The Spurs have won 24 of their last 25 road games that featured each member of their Big Three, so they shouldn’t be overwhelmed by the Thunder’s unfriendly confines."

It's a must win so Pop can go all regular season on the thunder and send TD, Parker, and Manu home to rest while playing game 4 with the bench

"Must" doesn't mean what some of you seem to think it means.

Edit: KeepinItReal beat me to essentially the same post.

TBH, the Spurs are the one basketball team that
seems completely unaffected by other team's arenas.
I think it's because we're running brilliant offense,
not trying to find a sliver of an opening to get a shot off.

The Spurs will win tonight. 113 to 108

no i don't worry about it being a "must" win game. if the game is out of reach for whatever reasons, we'll just have to regroup for game 4. i'm more concerned about health and minutes, because if this series becomes long and drawn out, you know the Heat will be rested and juiced up. last night, the refs pretty much guaranteed that series won't last long, so I just want our guys to be healthy.

It's a must win if we don't want a SpursTalk meltdown. I can't fucking believe the last time we had one was way back when the Lakers curbstomped us.

For OKC as 0:3 is insurmountable, if the Spurs split games on the road they will be fine.

The Spurs could win by 30 tonight and there will still be a mini-meltdown thread tomorrow about how everything is ruined because Matt Bonner got to play 14 minutes.

Agreed. I have SA winning by 4 at 112-108. Either way I see the Spurs beating the odds tonight to win. Vegas has OKC -3 which is not giving them much respect at home. In fact it's essentially calling the game a toss up. And if you follow trends, like say 20 wins in a row, you have to like the Spurs to win. Nothing more than the power of probability.
