Lmfao, that foul the refs called isn't even legal. You can no longer draw contact when shooting by going through a defenders arms like that.

Keepin' it real

Lol damn Durant uses his arms to get space which should be called but it's not. Spurs gotta play through this officiating to have a chance. Limit turnovers, play with poise, and we are back in it.

Ugly half but cut it down to single digits by halftime. There is a ton of room for improvement.

If the Spurs lose this game, this series is going to be a WAR. This Thunder team ain't no joke, tbh.

Right the ship and gain your footing at halftime.

All I ask is for the Spurs to be down by no more than 10 points to end the half!

MannyIsGod
05-31-2012, 09:00 PM
This deficit is on Pop, quite honestly. His rotations aren't making much sense, and he's taking too long to call timeouts to halt runs.

That said, we've manage to mitigate the damage for the most part because our plodding pace has prevented an explosion from the Thunder.

He's coached a below average half, but honestly the Spurs have been lazy on their passing and that a huge reason they are down.

Those TOs are everything in this half.

siraulo23

Whatever the Thunder is doing it's working

They've kept the spurs out of the paint

EVAY
05-31-2012, 09:00 PM
Gotta give some credit to the Oklahoma team for figuring out some ways to make it harder for Tony to do his thing, and for Duncan to have any kind of offense at all.

Our adjustments (or lack of) will tell in the second half.

Maybe Pop is ready for this streak to be over so the Press will stop talking about it.

Maybe Holt wants another game at home for concessions and tickets.

Maybe, on a given night, somebody can play better than we play for a while. Can we come back? Yes. Will we? Dunno

Playin some pretty crap ball right now. Way too many turnovers for us while we're not forcing them to make any.

11 turnovers to 3 right now. If we weren't throwing the ball all over the gym this game would be a lot closer right now. I expect the adjustment to be made, but OKC is going to get calls in the 2nd half. . .you have to be up already to overcome that. You can't come back if you're down too much. 1st half scoring is important as hell . . .

Come on Spurs, close the lead to single didgits by halftime.

Hmmm, no idea what to expect in the second half. Spurs still within striking distance, but playing poorly so far. The worst part for me is Danny Green wilting in the moment.

Looks like the Thunder are taking this away. They seem to be fully inspired to win this one. The bigs in the second lineup have been the culprit for us this game. Can't criticise them much, but Splitter and Bonner have come up short - the former on transition defense and overall IQ this game and the latter as usual choking on offense in a tight playoff game. Neal hasn't been good either - both defensively or offensively.

Manu, SJax and TP are keeping us in the game. Duncan has to do far better. If they tighten things up in the 3rd quarter, the Spurs have a chance, but I feel it is going to be remote this game.

So the Spurs just abandon the pick and roll, and they instead go with doses of Matt Bonner at 2 guard, Gary Neal on James Harden (which worked great in game 2), now he's bringing in someone off the bench who hasn't played in the playoffs, but it's not Blair, who owns the Thunder, no, it's James Anderson. Insane.

This ain't the Clips so it's going to be difficult to get back in. But it's possible as long as the offense gets back to the pick-and-roll sets and the ballmovement. Duncan in the low block is not the answer.

Bonner can't play in the second half. He doesn't have a huge role but it's impossible for the Spurs to gain traction when he plays so scared.

Defensively, gotta get back on defense and force them to run plays. No fouls and no transition buckets.

I know Spurs fans are overconfident to the nth degree right now but this would become a damn dangerous series even with one loss.

P.S.

Splitter, if you can't do anything against Derek Fisher defending you, that could be a fatal NBA flaw. If teams figure out they can just switch anyone off on him, that would be pretty damn detrimental going forward.

I really really want to know what Bonners' problem is. Aside from Lebron's nuts shriveling up like a grape dries, Bonner is legitimately the biggest pussy in the league. With the exception of a tough rebound he got, he has done nothing but fuck this team with his ineptitude. Just don't play him Pop, he ain't gonna do shit. Agreed.

Clearly, the Thunder have decided to throw everyone at Parker and say "Someone else has to beat us". So far, we have been unable to find that someone. Tim can't. I wish he would stop proving that he can't. Only a combination of Manu, Tony and Duncan and Jackson at the same time can get this thing back, imo.

Our offense is entirely stagnant without Tony controlling the motion.

Whisky Dog
05-31-2012, 09:22 PM
We know Bonner isn't a playoff performer so his suck is not surprising.

In this 2nd half the Spurs need Green, Leonard, Manu, and Splitter to step up. They need to use Duncan correctly and stop pretending it's 2003. So much room for improvement it's not even funny. That was the worst quarter of basketball simply because they made so many mistakes. The thunder will keep playing hard, but they aren't a precision assassin club like the Spurs are. If the Spurs get back to precision offense and taking care of the little things the thunder will wilt down the stretch.

I figured the Spurs would be down at half or early 3rd after being up at end of 1st, but I didn't think 13 pts. They have to make that run early in the 3rd to get the pressure on. The thunder plus pressure of a Spurs precision attack coming at them will equal quick perimeter shots, lost composure, turnovers, bad defensive rotations, and fouls.

Spurs, you took the half off. Get back to what you do and play with instinct and confidence.

Going to Duncan was clear desperation. Knew the game was a disaster the moment I saw Bonner put the ball on the floor for a move towards the basket. Pathetic.
Agreed, Parker is getting owned by OKC's defense and we're relying on Duncan's ISO and Bonner faking a 3 and driving.

I'll admit it like someone earlier did, I'm a Bonner apologist during the regular season, he helps space the floor, he hits 3s, he rebounds well; but come playoffs he is worthless. Bonner is afraid to take a shot, when he does he has no confidence and worst of all he always looks lost on defense.

Spurs REALLY need to play Blair, to mix things up.

Hopefully we don't see Bonner any more. He is only good for wide open 3s which are few and far between.

Reffing is questionable but we expected that in OKC.

Ball movement has to improve, last Manu turnover there were couple wide open guys if he would have swung it around. However, having Parker stand on the corner 3 point line seems asinine to me.

So we saw some JA which was definitely a surprise. With Splitter and Bonner stinking it up, maybe time for some burn for Blair. He seems to have kept a good attitude, why not.

Maybe Mills v Fisher too.

Duncan isos are just bad right now against Ibaka and a fired up Perkins, since he has no lift.
