View Full Version : Give Blair a shot next game?

He's played well against the Thunder all year and looked good in garbage time, so he's not obviously not too rusty. If there's any game in which Pop could afford to gamble, it's Game 4. Bonner is absolutely fuckin' worthless, so there's really nothing to lose giving Blair his minutes.

If none of the big 3 show up, it doesn't matter, tbh...

UZER

Bonner is useless in the series spacing be damned! He has never showed anything in the playoffs....ever. The thunder are quick enough to close out on him at the 3 point line which makes him even more worthless playing against the Thunder.

Pop will keep Splitter out until 2 min at least to go in the 1st qtr to avoid the intentional fouls. Bonner being the first guy off the bench is really hurting the Spurs. They won games 1 & 2 despite Bonner.

Fpoonsie
05-31-2012, 11:04 PM
Yep. It's officially time to let Bonner's white ass warm the bench for a while, and see what Blair can do. Neither one is a focal point of anything SA does, so what's the harm? If Bonner can't ACTUALLY spread the floor ('cause he can't hit a gotDAMN thing from outside), then, at worst, it's a wash.

no thanks. No major adjustments are needed. Just need to show up tbh.

Fpoonsie

Well, that's just it, isn't it? It wouldn't be a MAJOR adjustment since neither player is THAT vital. So why not give him some burn?

spursfan1000
05-31-2012, 11:06 PM
Yes because bonner is just useless. Thunder won't really be too worried about bonner until he makes a 3, which he hasn't been able to do.

I'd agree with the "if ain't broke, don't fix it" idea if Bonner contributed in any way, shape, or form, but the guy has been a detriment all series. At least Blair can grab a few rebounds and is good for an offensive put back or two.

Even if Blair went into the game holding a triple meat cheeseburger, a large cake batter milkshake and a greasy uniform, he'd still be more useful than that cockgobbling red headed faggot who the people in this city blow their load for. The shitstain does his disappearing act every year and people still act shocked and surprised that he isn't playing well. So yes, pretty please play Blair, with a fucking cherry on top.

Blair can probably be motivated by Pop with cheeseburgers or his favorite food. I don't know how he can motivate Bonner to not suck though. Maybe hire some sand nigs to kidnap his family?

Kool-Aid Gun Fight Leads To Two Injuries

Two Detroit teens have been wounded after a gunfight broke out over what eyewitnesses say was an argument over who makes the best Kool-Aid.

The beverage-based battle took place Tuesday night in the city's Brightmoor neighborhood in front of an abandoned school building, according to WJPK-TV. (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/two-shot-in-detroit-after-argument-over-kool-aid)

"The initial argument, from my understanding, began over Kool-Aid," a witness told reporter Andrea Isom, who confirmed the story with Detroit officers.

The tongue-lashing increased in intensity until two of the men from the conflicting Kool-Aid crews started shooting each other.

However, neither shooter hit their intended mark, according to ImperfectParent.com, (http://www.imperfectparent.com/topics/2012/05/31/two-shot-during-argument-over-kool-aid/) which reported that two innocent bystanders, both 17, were hit by the stray bullets.

One victim was struck in the wrist and the other got a bullet in the rear.
Both victims were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries and both have since been released from the hospital.
Meanwhile, Detroit police are looking for the two shooting suspects, one of whom reportedly left the scene in a purple 2007 Impala.

Although Kool-Aid seems to be one of the least important reasons to fight someone, much less shoot them, arguments over the popular powdered drink are not unprecedented.

Earlier this month, a woman in Pahokee, Fla., was arrested for domestic assault after she had a fight with her brother because someone drank his Kool-Aid, the Palm Beach Post reported. (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/crime/glades-police-blotter-pahokee-brother-and-sister-both-2349527.html)

During the argument, the woman threw a vase at her brother, who was sitting on the porch.

The woman later told authorities that her brother was crazy and that he was upset because of the Kool-Aid while the brother said he was tired of his sister's disrespect.

Well, to be fair, half the time, Blair was playing w/ a "nothing to lose" mentality against OKC's starters, while the rest of the time, he was playing against the end of OKC's subpar bench.

Still, fuck it. Sit Bonner's ass.

Along with allowing Ibaka to park his ass in the lane on defense the whole time and pretty much blow the penetrate-and-kick game all to hell.

Well done, Greggory. A whopping ten minutes and didn't have the sack to keep him in any longer when it was obvious he was making an impact. This was the game which you could've afforded to gamble on him and you blew the opportunity. You had an open-ended straight flush draw and folded your cards like a pussy.

Now what? Game 5 is too important to give meaningful minutes to Blair, who hasn't seen much action in the post-season outside of garbage time.

Sigh.

And since when has scoring garbage buckets meant any damn thing? He's a pro. He's supposed to make them shots. That's considered impact? :rolleyes

Garbage buckets don't mean anything and have zero impact on the game since they come at a time when the outcome has already been decided.

Except Blair got minutes last night during an important stretch in the 3rd when the Spurs made a run to cut the lead to 2, which you would've known if you watched the game.

Tbh, Popovich playing Blair would make a small difference, but the decider of this series is going to be whether or not Parker shows up for the rest of it. The Spurs simply don't have enough other options in the half court if Parker doesn't show up.

Their offense was fine last night despite Parker playing poorly. And yes, I'm a supporter of the "teams built around PGs don't win championships" theory, but the Spurs do have a well rounded offense that can attack opposing teams from practically every position.

I don't think the Spurs did all that much wrong last game (of course there's always room for improvement, but I don't think there's ever been a perfect game played in the history of the sport). Ibaka was 6 for 6 on jumpers from 15 feet and out and Durant did what is required of a top-tier superstar and countered every Spur run with a big basket and a succession of big baskets. If Ibaka shoots 50 percent and Durant shoots 50 percent, the Spurs win the game and we're sitting here this morning talking about how "great" the Spurs looked on the road.

Sometimes, despite what you do, the other team just steps up and takes the game from you by performing beyond expectation.

The Spurs had to go small for long stretches to create spacing and offense. PG oriented teams having to go small to create offense/spacing leads to shitty defense from PG oriented teams. That's why Ibaka and Perkins exploded last night, similar to how random Spurs big men like Oberto and Mohammed would explode against the Suns several years ago. Yeah their offense looked good, but they sacrificed size on defense in order to create it. If they weren't a PG oriented team they wouldn't need to do that.

The lineup that made the run was Duncan, Blair, Jackson, Manu, and Parker, and even though Blair is short, he plays more like a traditional big than a stretch 4, so the spacing wasn't exactly optimal, but the Spurs were much better defensively (weird, since Blair usually gets abused by opposing bigs, but for whatever reason, he's historically bothered the Thunder) and the offense was still good enough.

The reason I think the Spurs can break the "PG oriented teams don't win championships" trend is that, unlike other past teams built around star point guards, Parker isn't a ball stopper who over dribbles and stagnates the offense. In addition to that, the Spurs don't run too many isolation plays for him, ensuring the offense is more about the whole than any one player.

midnightpulp

Another problem is the Spurs don't have the size even to sacrifice, at least in this series, as Splitter hasn't exactly seized the moment.
