I have him at 2, ahead of Conley but behind Rondo.

Number 1.

I'm in the camp that believes Rondo is severely overrated defensively.

Probably somewhere between 20-25

Didnt Rondo just drop 44 on him?

Such defensive PG, that`s why LeBron took Rondo in 4th and OT.

I'd have Rondo, Conley, Rubio, Holiday and Earl Watson ahead of him..

Paul and Kidd are about equal..

This a good list and post. the one where you have Chalmers outside of the top 10 was not.

Earl Watson? He hardly plays. And didn't he lose his minutes to Jamaal Tinsley towards the end of the year?

Chalmers is the best defensive pg in the league. He will really prove it against Westbrook or Parker in the next series. He just frusterates players and he is so damn clutch in the postseason. The guy just makes love to pressure.

I like the Jrue Holiday and Mike Conley mentions. Conley really impressed me in the playoffs this season. I'd really like to see John Wall motivated enough to see if he could be an elite PG defender. He has all the tools.

Sure as hell not #1.

Is that why Rondo just lit him up last game :rollin

:lol Missed Watson, for some reason when i saw his name I thought collison or Wesbrook (UCLA PG's) he used to be very good defensively but havent seen him much lately and when I do he is hobbled.

Rondo, Paul, Westbrook, Parker, Holiday, Deron, Rose, Conley, Bledsoe, Kidd, Teague are all better just off the top of my head.

Sorry, someone who got torched by Rondo isn't the best defensive PG in the league, or even top 2-5.

I also think both Rondo and Paul are overrated a bit (not as much as lets say Kobe is at this point defensively) . Rhe reason I would give Rondo the edge despite his size (height)he can swith a PG/SG pnr better than any of the PG's listed at this time because of his length. I do think Rubio and Holiday have potential to do it as well or better (switching).

I would go:
1. Rondo (but he gambles a bit too much but those plays help fuel the Celts offense)
2. Holiday
3. Conley
4. Rubio
5. Hill
6. CP3
7. Chalmers
8. Parker?

Also where does Rodney stuckety rank? What about Wall and Irving?

Rose also is good defensively but I think the responsibilities he has on offense keeps him from maxing his effort.

Rondo scoring 44 was not ALL on chalmers. And just because Kobe scores 40 on Thabo or Lebron 30 8 and 8 on TOny allen doesnt mean those guys are not good defenders. Durant put up 30 on artest sometimes with ease but Ron when in shape can still defend.

I don't disagree, i'm just saying i don't think he's some elite defender by any means.

Good defender, yes, but not 5, or top 10-15 for that matter.

Westbrook is hard to rate, IMO. He can be a good defender when he doesn't take matchups personally...

Yeah, most nights Rondo's J sucks, so the game plan was to play the penetration and give him room to shoot. Rondo went nuts because he was drilling his shot.

Having said that, once it's obvious that it's his night, it seems like you make adjustments and play tighter. The fact that the adjustment was "put LeBron on him" and not "have Chalmers play tighter" speaks volumes.

I'd put Chalmers at #1 in terms of defensive guards to come out of the Cook Inlet Conference, right ahead of Trajan Langdon.

chalmers just plays average D and it only looks good because his teammates play none at all, however if you have 2 of the world's best 3 who need to play any fucking defense?
