I recently downloaded the free trial version from the website only to have it fail on me, making me reluctant to buy the full version.

I keep getting error messages mentioning something about a directX 9.0c
i proceeded to download this program but to no avail -_-

So my question is there any other reasonably priced game programing software? and if so what?
