View Full Version : Is this the worst postseason of all-time?

It's still early, but so far it's been atrocious...and it looks like the CF's are only gonna go 5 games as well.

Unwatchable basketball in the EC, with lack of competition in the WC. Unless we get a 7-gamer out of SA and Miami this will be the worst postseason of my lifetime...moreso than 1999 and 2007.

Yeah. Definitely. Unwatchable basketball from the leastern conference. Boring basketball from the West. Yeah. Unless OKC-Sa and Boston-Miami goes at least 6 games with competitive basketball, this is the worst non-competitive postseason of basketball ever, IMHO.

2011 was better. I thought that it was going to be shitty at first mainly because I thought that the Mavs were going to choke against the Blazers after the crap out in game 4. I know I'm biased but at least a dozen of the Mavs' playoff games were exciting. I mean a lot them were nail biters and comebacks courtesy of the Mavs.

DeadlyDynasty

Not nearly as bad as the aforementioned ones.

2010:

Celtics-Cavs: LBJ sending a message to the fans in his last ever home game.
-most competitive finals of the new century.

2009:

-arguably the most exciting first rd series ever (C's-bulls).
-celtics vs magic
-cavs vs magic
-lakers vs nugs (first 3 games were great...game 5 was good too).

1999:

-allan houston vs heat
-LJ's 4-pt play against indy.

2007:

Warriors upset Mavs
LBJ's Game 5 at the Palace
Donaghy betting on Spurs

2012:

^ mark game 4 of WCF. It'll be dully noted for a screw job favoring the pussy Thunder to win game 4. Which will give em momentum to successfully accomplish a back door sweep. :stirpot:

2009 probably spoiled us all. That first round was simply amazing.

But yah... something about this post season is lacking. Probably due to all the injuries. That Rose injury really killed the eastern conference playoffs.

The West would have been more watchable if it were San Antonio vs Lakers in the WCF. Phil Jackson not coaching the Lakers also takes away a lot of personality. Instead we get dumb and dull potato head.

I think Laker fans hate that guy more than any other fanbase.

Even the Lakers are unwatchable this postseason.

While the Western conference games were awesome, the early to mid 2000s Eastern conference was so bad that when you combine the two I still think the magnitude of the East's suckiness outweighs the good from the Western side.

Jacob1983

The east has had a lot of shitty playoff basketball in the last decade.

Heat - Celtics = great defense, artificially prolonged series though, the C's should be 2:1
Spurs - Thunder = great offense, if the Spurs take G4 it won't be a long series.

NBA best 4 teams advanced. The rest, pure garbage tbh.

Seriously how the fuck do you have 40k plus posts consisting of "lol/lmao/smilies", "my team is better than your team because i said so" schtick and when you post something a little more elaborate, it's a copy/paste job.

Sure i like to troll but you're just an awful, awful poster... you should just stop posting, you'd be doing yourself a favor tbh.

Not for me. I was thoroughly entertained watching Kirby choke away two games in the playoffs. Not to mention the Spurs playing well, but watching my own team usually angers me more than entertains me, even if they're rolling, since I demand flawless play every possession (like most fans, I take it). I'm typically entertained by the failure of a rival or games I have no personal involvement in.

OKC-MIA should be good.

Call me homer, but the Spurs's layup drill domination has been awesome up until the last game. Other than that, I agree the rest has been fairly mediocre.

The salvation is of course the 28 joining us in the last place & seeing OKC & the Clippers absolutely incapable of a single lucid thought without the Lakers across the scorer's table.

It's only the worst post season if you are a Lakers or Bulls fan. If the Lakers or Bulls swept the playoffs and Finals, Lakers or Bulls fan would proclaim it the greatest post season of all time.

Tbh, any post season that doesn't feature the Lakers in the WCF or the Celtics/Bulls/Knicks in the ECF is a wasted season. No one wants to watch two cow towns battle it out in the West, or the appointed ones battle the anointed ones in the East.

When your team isn't prominently featured, it's boring, unless you're a basketball purist and enjoy the game.

If your entertainment comes mostly from the drama of hated teams falling, their stars being embarrassed and appearing utterly driven and defeated and beloved teams rising, their stars being heralded as the greatest of all time, you have a point though.

Whole year has been shitty ball.... playoffs just making it worse and worse. The only thing that can salvage this season is an OKC/Miami NBA Finals. With a Finals like that atleast we'd know they wouldn't be no fluke azz champions...unlike if the celtics or spurs won it for example.

The first two rounds of the playoffs this year were awful. The Eastern Conference was abysmal, and the Western Conference was just a bunch of speed bumps until the inevitable showdown between OKC and San Antonio. The conference finals have been very compelling though, with game 2 of the Spurs-Thunder showcasing some of the best basketball played in recent memory. The titanic clash between OKC's big three and the Spurs team ball was fun to watch, and both were at their best in game 2. After game 1, the Heat-Celtics series has been pretty competitive too.

How would it be a fluke if Spurs or Celtics win it?

Obviously because the Spurs have steamrolled so far through the west it's been awesome for me, but I can see why it would be shitty for a neutral.

Rondo's in his prime.

Parker was the best player on the Spurs this year and an MVP candidate and only turned 30 a couple of weeks ago.

Jordan was 35 in 1998. Was that a fluke year too?
