My only problem with Timvp is that he can be kind of a pessimist... Or is it a realist? I getthe two mixed up sometimes

If we're doing well, he's a pessimist. If we're doing poorly, he's a realist. Simple, really.

We need to.

We are forced to do it cause he runs this site. And if we would not hang on his analysis, we could kiss this site goodbye

Seriously? Surely you must have gathered he knows a sh1t load about the Spurs and basketball in general?

The amount of research, time and effort Timvp puts in is unbelievable. Living outside of the United States it's difficult to watch all of the games, especially through the week. His post game analysis and metrics keep us in the loop and saves us all hours of reasearch. His post game grades usually come in around my mid-morning coffee break at work, which is result :o)

While I usually don't agree with his player grades I think he has a good and meticulous analysis on the game. Plus he gets ripped by professional analysts so gotta read what he post for free.

His words are important because TIMVP nice enough to take the time to provide the analysis for every game. It is always interesting to read and I appreciate that he takes the time to do it for all of the spurs fans that post here.

how could a 12 year old post such long and thoughtful analysis? Plus if you read what he writes before game, he's usually right.

His words gain importance as people recognize in them the descriptions of games and players that they have watched. He watches all the Spurs games multiple times, knows all the players and the coaching staff and administrators, and is more or less unbiased.

He is generally overly positive in his evaluations of Tim Duncan and generally overly harsh in his evaluations of Tony Parker, but beyond those two players, he is more balanced than not.

His write-ups provide people who are Spurs-followers a generally good overview of how the team is doing. It makes it easier on fans who are more than casual fans but are not as committed to watching every game and every play in minute detail as he is to understand more about what the trends are in the team.

Lots of people on this forum know him and Kori personally. The rest of us do not and try to be careful not to get ourselves so far out of whack with either of them that they ban us from the forum.. Because they can. lol.

The forum is a nice way for lots of us to follow the games with other fans when there is not a person in our house with us who is as crazy about basketball as we are. We don't want to mess it up.

The interesting thing, in a cool way, is that while LJ is very outgoing and expressive in writing, he's much quieter and more reserved in person. Again, a good thing! He's probably a fantastic analyst/writer because he's humble and an excellent listener.

Sure he has good takes, but if a Newb came in with that same breakdown and analysis, it would barely hit a second page of replies. Many GNSF's and some bolded just like to kiss his ass.

If some newb came in and did what Timvp did he'd get credit for it. Which noob is going to watch the game 2 or 3 times and compile stats from all over the internet for no reason other than he enjoys doing it?

There are lots of people here who have put the effort in to write quality posts. Some have done so on a repeat basis (Bruno with the salary cap and scouting or FWDT with refs IE) and some have done it for a bit then grown tired of it. No one has ever done it on the same way he has.

Point me to the newb that has if you can, please.

OP, not only is timvp a basketball and Spurs guru who writes excellent content about the Spurs, he and Kori (also a Spurs guru) are amazing people who have together built a global community of Spurs fans through this website, some of whom have even travelled to SA to meet each other and the local Spursfan community. In short, they are the best kind of people - those who give endlessly to others and believe we can be better every day. :toast
