View Full Version : AT&T Center finally giving shirts to Spurs fans?

Just saw this on Twitter. For some reason I wanted them to use black shirts, thought it'd look pretty cool. But just glad they're doing it now. I'm assuming this is the first time they're doing this this post season but if I somehow missed it my bad lol... Hard to miss though.

went to a home game in 08 and they did it
i think its kind of stupid but i guess they want the fans to be in it as much as possible because of the impact of this game
the shirts they give are horrible quality and usually XXXL because of the whales
people who work for the arena also come around telling you to put the shirt on

They have done it before and I was at the game and the majority of fans didn't even bother to put them on. All the most diehard Spurs fans STILL prefer to watch the games at bars away from the arena.

Hate that we're doing this, if true. This is what teams who've never "been there before" do. This makes it look like we're scared of the opponent and have to resort to finding every little gimmick to try to help the team out. Thumbs down.

Geez, make up your mind people! First, some of you were bitching..."Why dont the Spurs give out free shirts?" And now that they are doing it, it's stupid? Please...it's pretty damn cool if you ask me. For one, you get a free shirt, and you get to say you were at the actual game where shirts were given out instead of noise makers. Would you rather have a shirt, or a noise maker? And for the people who want a black out, yeah it would be cool and look awesome...but 1 problem...the Spurs wear white jerseys at home, not black! It's like when OKC gave out blue shirts at home and then Dallas wore their blue jerseys on the road, so the move backfired on OKC! :lol Secondly, the white out should bring fans together and unite them to rally behind the team. It also looks pretty cool on TV...:tu

The shirts are cool if you wear them playing bball or at the lake. They are dorky if you wear them at the game with the other sheep. It's like baseball caps snow skiing...you don't wear a Crested Butte hat at Crested Butte...you wear one from Aspen or Steamboat or somewhere else.

Spurs do it at least one time in the playoffs almost every year that I can remember in recent years and I've been a season ticket holder for 13 years.
This is the first time they are doing it this year, but with good reason since this may be the last game at the AT & T Center. I hope not though!:toast

What? Game 2 was loud and awesome as was game 1. The crowd is not OKC or Utah but those are the few exceptions to NBA crowds. The crowd was pretty damn good and we feel the big difference in the atmosphere.
We were standing and screaming the whole time. And, we're in row 17 of the lower level and yes everyone around us was screaming their ass off as well. I'm almost fainting from screaming nonstop.
There are some older people and lardos that r either too old to get up or too fat to move so they sit on their asses, but those are the exceptions at least around us. I too get pissed when I see them just sitting there stuffing their faces with more dogs and nachos instead of getting their fat ass up. The team needs us.

we did it in the finals in 07 and i hardly felt like it was a way of showing how scared we were of the cavs.
like someone said earlier, this brings fan unity. no matter who we are, where we come from, we are all spurs fans and for a night we will all wear the same color together (hopefully) and cheer our team on

We were doing this before OKC was even a team. Spurs do it every year in the playoffs..why is everyone freaking out about this. We did it every year we won the title (except maybe '99..can't remember that far back) but in '03, '05, '07, and everywhere in between we had a game where we got shirts. It's not to rub it in anyone's face...it's about unity..as a team..as a fanbase. Quit with the "we're a big league team" and "we've been here before, this is bush league" bullshit. We need everything we can get to bring this team and it's fans together right now.

If people wear them, the only problem I have with white shirts is that OKC is fairly comfortable playing with a background of a sea of white. Why make them shoot in a comfortable setting?
Free stuff is a nice gesture by the Spurs, but keep the shooting background "uncomfortable" for the opposition.

I disagree. The Thunder know damn well they're not in OKC because instead of cheers they will hear boos tonight and cheers for the other team. You also have to take into account that the Thunder don't wear white jerseys on the road, so they'll be looking at enemy colors tonight....

Kinda like the Mavs fans with their bright blue shirts when they were against the thunder this year? I swear... I was laughing my arse off. It looked like OKC were playing on their own damn court the entire time. They looked mighty cozy there, IMO. Gimmick backfire much?? :lmao

On the bright side it creates a slightly different environment than games 1&2. Just a slight change that gives the Thunder a feeling that things are different that the first two games.
