Guard Gary Neal was not on board the Spurs’ flight from San Antonio to Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon, coach Gregg Popovich said.
“He’s not feeling well,” Popovich told the Express-News.
Asked if it was anything serious, Popovich said, “No.”
In 15 minutes off the bench Monday night, Neal scored 2 points by sinking a pair of free throws. He was 0 for 6 from the field in Game 5, including 0 for 3 from 3-point territory.

Nealtook two 3s last night he takes in every game he plays in

Both were line drives that barely hit the front of the rim

say what you will about Neal but the guy hits big shots, tough 3s with regularity.

Those jumpers he took yesterday were no more I'll advised than the shots he's made his career off of.
they looked ugly and flat

I wonder what happened. If he had an infection, it makes no sense for him to drop his twitter account...very weird. Let's hope it's not him drinking too excess again and doing something stupid.

He seems fairly humble so I'd be surprised if he got into an argument with Pop but you never know.

The ownership and FO are all basically former/current alcoholics so you would think/hope they would have some understanding if that was the case. But this is just guesswork. Hopefully this could still be nothing. Maybe an issue with his family?

Other then the rape accusation, I don't know how many her know about his track record overseas , but he does have a bad history with other teams if you do the research.

Gary Neal lost his job in Italy in March 2010.

Friday, he tells the coach he has a sore knee and won't practice.
Saturday the team has an important game.
Sore knee his ass, he travels 150 miles and come partying in Milano with a friend.
He was stupid enough to call the GM in the middle of the night and tell him he had lost the car keys and had no idea how to get back to treviso.
He found the keys, eventually, went back and was fired the next day.

I'm a Neal fan, too.

He can hit the big three (without being wide open when he gets the ball), he can drive and hit the mid-range jumper (a lost art) and he can even glide to the hoop and bank it high off the glass. He's a flat-out scorer that you don't need to orient the offense to in order to take advantage of.

He'll never be a great defender, but the last few games he's been working hard on D and has been fairly effective.

It's not a good sign that he's not on the plane (but there will be other planes to OKC tomorrow if he's up to it).

This is what I figured, but it's fun to watch people run around like headless chickens.

If Neal is sick with anything contagious, the last thing you want to do is stick him on the plane with the rest of the team and risk it spreading. If he's not contagious, maybe he just wasn't in a good condition to be flying.

He will fly up separate, and if he's not well enough to play, he won't.

Or maybe he'll go Jordan Flu-game mode all over the Thunder.

SAN ANTONIO -
San Antonio Spurs guard Gary Neal is expected to play Wednesday night despite not being on the team charter to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Spurs officials said Neal felt sick Monday night and was told to stay behind.

Team officials expected Neal to arrive later and join the team for Game 6.

The Spurs trail the Thunder three games to two in the Western Conference finals.

Hell I drove from Eugene to Portland with an ear infection and pneumonia just to watch the Spurs play! Granted, I wish I didn't cause that was my first NBA game ever and what I wanted to see more than anything else was Duncan play, and Pop rested the big three and the Spurs, or should I say Toros, lost by 40 to the Blazers. maybe if he was 6 inches taller
What does height have to do with it?
In many ways our biggest problem is the backup PG, when Neal comes in off the bench, the offense goes stagnant and the Spurs' momentum has died. I think Mills has shown the ability to keep the pressure on the defense when given a chance.

mills is short, with a short wingspan (for a nba player). it would be hard for him to get the passes around the tall lanky defenders of okc.

Neal needs to play as a spot up shooter on game 6, fuck this ball handling bullshit. If Pop uses him correctly he will have a huge game for us.

So, do you think TJ Ford would have been a better option then?

I follow his wife on Twitter. She was sick for awhile, probably caught the bug from her.

Neal in some ways has become RMJ, Pop has tried him atthe point and it is hit and miss and has lost his touch. Mills needs to be the backup with Neal put back at the SG position.

Thank you for doing your hardest to get to the game.
