Seriously, getting shut down by Perkins and Ibaka is not a reason to retire. If Boston gets to the WCF, Garnett will look the same.
Playing a top 3 defensive post player and best weakside shot blocker in the NBA and he needs to retire? Give me a break

Are you kidding? Did you see what he did at the end of the game?
Timmy lost a lot but he brought it tonight. He is a true winner in every sense. He did not choke. He played as well as he could and had some great numbers.
That dunk to settle down the crowd really helped us come back from what would have been a double-digit loss.
Duncan still has it.

Easy for Chuck to say. I found it funny during the pre-game when he was saying "All that championship pedigree doesn't mean anything" how the hell would you know when you never won shit? Tim played great tonight and nobody is gonna push him out the door..

And what should, Lebron do if he doesn't get past Boston?
TD has 2-3 more seasons left if Pop continues to control is minutes as he has.
I said it before (with my number of posts, that's always true) that the Spurs are mooching off the playoff teat and not building contenders. They are making money by having extra games in the season. It's a tease of sorts for the fans.
Next year Tim won't be such a financial ball and chain, so maybe someone who wants to make it to the playoffs decides to come to SA, maybe a decent big and some real bench 3pt shooting help instead of the lame duck Bonner/Blair combo.

Tim is clearly in decline and has been for a couple of years. THe problem for both him and the Spurs is that he's got little to no frontline support around him. I don't know how many times or ways I can say this. The Spurs have to stop dicking around with the likes of Bonner and Blair and get a couple of young, athletic bigs that can help Duncan with the heavy lifting. He shouldn't have to continue doing this work alone. This was evident after the Memphis playoff series and it's even more evident now.
I hope the Spurs front office finally will commit to this being their biggest offseason objective.

Duncan should do whatever he wants. Retiring would be fine but so would continuing to play.
In a couple of weeks, when Duncan would have cleared his head, Pop needs to have a talk with him to know for how long he still wants to play. Tim's answer to that question will define a lot what Spurs should do this offseason.

I don't get why anyone would say he "should" retire. If he wants to play next year (or the next couple), why not? He's not going to ask for a crazy amount of money or anything, and he still contributes more than the average big in the league.

This series didn't fail because of Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili! Give'em another run. I can't say that this is our last chance at number 5. If the ROLE players would've performed their jobs, there would be no need for Tim to play 40 minutes. Our stars played well, they just didn't get any consistent help. Ibaka, Thabo, Perk, and Collison helped their stars to victory. Ask the Heat what happens when the role players don't play a role!

It's amazing how well he is still playing. I remember watching Ewing late in his career at around this same age 36 against the Heat in the playoffs and he was basically reduced to a 15 foot jumper.. He could no longer rebound or defend or play major minutes. Tim can still score on the block, he can still shoot the jumper, he can still rebound and defend.... He still has game left...

Barkley is another one of these idiots who pretends to respect him but constantly takes shots at him (like Kerr). He's the third best center in the league, just had his best playoffs in five years, was their most consistent player in the playoffs and one of the two best bigs in the playoffs period and he should retire; seriously? 25-14, if Garnett put that up they'd be foaming at the mouth.

Next season? No reason whatsoever to not get paid as much as we can afford while staying under the tax.
The year after? He has every reason to take way less than his market value. With Ginobilis contract coming off the books (and hopefully him resigning for cheap) we have cap space to bring someone in to get us over the hump.

Spurs rely on Duncan too much. What he's still able to do for this Spurs team is more than valuable how-ever. On defense he was our lone warrior altering and blocking shots. On offense his jumper and rolling to the basket is money. THe guy just needs help when it comes to front-court duties. Would explain why he seemed to tire as the game went on.
Blame POP for not allowing Tim and Tiago to develop. For example tonight's game, he tried to aliviate some of that duty with Tiago but when you don't play together, it's harder knowing what to do and when. To see the short-leashed Tiago yanked 3-times, yet all series Diaw pretty much offered no-help still got to play through it all. Even Ginger had a bigger leash. It's on you POP, we saw this last season.

This would be fucking magical, but it's a long shot unless we sign a good Center. Splitter is trash and even our European players that are waiting to come over are not nearly good enough to help us win a ring. We'd need another great player, and not have our role players play like butt hole when it matters.

It's probably the first time he said something about the officiating.

This. Couldn't have said it any better senor. Its sad how the front office has dicked around with this issue for so long and the minute they get a serviceable big (diaw) with toughness they make a deep playoff run. If they don't get a big that can log big minutes they can just hang it up tbh.

I believe Duncan got demoralized a lot of times during the series. Whenever Ibaka or Perkins got the better of him defensively, he seemed stunned a lot of times. It's like his demeanor seems to trickle down on the other players. It's just like the way with the Grizzlies last year.
Duncan has to man up, and admit whether he has lost his competitive mentality. If he continue to play next year, he'll be still facing younger guys in the playoffs. Younger guys with the bravado to challenge him with an "in your face" attitude. He must ask himself if he could still play with a better mentality than what he displayed the past three playoff series, against Dallas, Memphis, and now OKC.

Do people think there's a legit chance Tim retires? I was of the opinion it's pretty certain he would be back. That would suck terribly if he just left. He should announce he's retiring at the beginning of his last year IMO and get a true farewell tour.
If you retire at his age, you probably have 50 years of retirement to enjoy. No one needs 50 years of retirement, though I wouldn't mind. What could anyone imagine doing that would beat being a professional basketball player that Tim would actually do?
Unless the Spurs make a stupid move, I think Tim hangs around, judging by his body language and comments in the prior interview, but I want to see his exit interview just to be certain.

He has a lot of game in him and would put a team like Miami over the top. 25/14/2 is great for a player his age imo. But the Spurs need to get a player like Gasol to take the load of Timmy in the post, it's obvious Splitter is a little pansy bitch and will never grow a ballsack. Then again Pau's vagina tends to bleed pretty easily but maybe if he's away from Kobe that won't be the case.

I don't know if he would announce it to the public, but I guarantee he would notify the organization AT LEAST a year ahead of time so that they could make moves accordingly.
Tim absolutely strikes me as a guy who would want the organization better off in the long run.
