Jamison might be old and a bad defender but he still would be a way better backup PF than Blair and Bonner.

Spurs could offer a good enough package to do a S&T for Jamison.
Blair+Neal+Byars+Joseph+$1.1M in cash for Jamison sounds good.

Blair and Neal are 2 fine young player. The $1.M in cash is to paid Joseph salary. Byars can be cut for free. With this package, Spurs could sign Jamison to a $10M/2 years contract. After that move, amnesty Bonner to stay below the tax.

Sounds perfect to me Bruno. He was born a spur. If we could land him that would be more then a solid pickup.

I think I would pass on this one if I were spurs FO...Jamison for 5mil over the next 2 seasons does not excite me one bit. Honestly, rather keep Blair and Neal than take on Jamison.

yavozerb you must be kidding. why would you pass up jamison. he's a career 20 and 8 guy who averaged 17 and 6 last year while shooting 34% from 3. you don't pass that up over the other bigs on our roster not named tim duncan.

no brainer. he would help the spurs where its needed most. he can shoot from anywhere on the floor

I'd probably do it even though it'd make the Spurs even worse defensively.

I don't think he would shoot from 3 very well in our system

The problem with that trade + amnesty is that it leaves the Spurs with only 4 bigs. I guess a min salary 5th big could be had.

I'd take him.

When your first question is "is he still in the league?" I think that is a red flag.

Cavs still open to sign and trade with free agent forward Antawn Jamison just as long as they don't get players back, sources tell Y!

Uh okay so what's the point of a sign and trade If they don't want players back?

Spurs don't seem to be going this route (aged vets) any more with FAs, and I have to say I like it. Last one we signed was McDyess in 08.

Even if they were, all these guys are heading to one of the 5 teams in NY, LA, or Miami.

Good. The Lakers are going to need an in-house AARP rep.

Mini-MLE or vet min.

I was assuming I guess that he could go for more than that and why would they have to do a S&T if they can just sign him to that?

No shit, unless they are willing to take picks from five years down the road.

I'm sure he could get more from Charlotte, but that would require playing for the Bobcats.

:lol True. I guess I don't get where the S&T comes into play then.

LAS VEGAS – The Charlotte Bobcats have lost out on free agent Antawn Jamison, who will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Observer has learned.

The Bobcats were recruiting free agent Jamison as both a power forward and a veteran mentor to a young team. Jamison was torn between the chance to play for his hometown team or to pursue a championship with what figures to be his last NBA contract.

The Brooklyn Nets were also in the running for the two-time All-Star who played for
Providence High before starring at North Carolina.

The Bobcats are still pursuing Kris Humphries and Carl Landry in free-agency, to address the power forward position.

He would be an upgrade over Bonner for that stretch-4 Pop can't live without.
