The Pacers have agreed to a 5 year deal with George Hill, according to a source.

Good for George. Going back to Indiana really worked out for him. Win-win for both teams on that trade.

I am really happy for him, he really found his place in Indiana. And fans love him, and he seems to enjoy it there.

Anyone wants to guess how much he gets for those 5 years?

I'm guessing a backloaded deal that starts at around 3.5 M?

Congrats to George Hill. I'm guessing he got at least $30 million over five years. Probably closer to $40 million for it to be completed this quickly.

I loved George Hill while he was here, but I don't have any idea how this team would have been able to swallow a 5 year/30M contract....let alone a 5 year/40M one. I'm still curious to see what the actual numbers are, but I think the Spurs got the better end of the deal.

Although....Indiana seems pretty happy with their end as well.

One of the few cases where both teams seem genuinely happy with their end of a trade.

Great for him.

I guess we can count out him ever returning here.

If the reports in the media are to be believed, Hill turned down a 4yr extension for more than 20M before the 2011-12 season. I'm sure he did very well with this deal and good for him.

The Spurs traded him at the peak of his value and got back at least Leonard in return. A great trade even just for Kawhi. Potentially better if Lorbek and/or Bertans ever play for the Spurs.

In a few years, this trade is going to prove very one-sided in favor of the Spurs.

Absolutely and hopefully this is a strategy the Spurs can use more. It's not every team that can trade away young talent for picks, but when you draft like the Spurs do, you have a competitive advantage on both ends. On one end it allows you to draft guys like Hill late and flip them for higher picks. On the other end it allows you to really get some good players (like Kawhi).

Its a fine line on giving up young guys (especially when you are in a win/rebuild mode), but it's something that is viable when you know you won't be able to pay what they will command.

Count me in with those who loved Hill as a Spur. I'm thrilled to see him get to play for his hometown team and succeed.

They brought one piece of the puzzle back, but with Hibbert unlikely to return (unless the Pacers decide to match), will they be able to match their success last season?

Wish him the best, but if Hibbert leaves, I can't see them having more success.

Well..let's see. Leonard had a great year but it's early. Hill had good years here too.

People said last year Neal was better than Hill so we don't need him. Now I'm sure Hill would fit much better. He could play backup PG and SG while Neal is only a scorer. Plus Hill is a better defensive player.

It would be great to have Leonard and Hill but the trade was good for both teams.

But don't say we don't need someone like Hill because he would be a great addition for most of the teams.

In a few years, this trade is going to prove very one-sided in favor of the Spurs.

The Lakers traded their starting center for a young kid out of high school.

How many Finals appearances does Vlade Divac have compared to Kobe Bryant again?

I like hill and he is a good role-player. He's not going to be an all star but can be a quality starting guard in the NBA as he is showing with the pacers. As a good team guy, a good community, and a hometown boy, The Pacers are one of the few opportunities a player of his skill level has to not wander around the league for their career, as trade filler, the other possibility is becoming a fan favorite in the city where he was drafted. A long term contract is a great thing for him and his family, and I strongly hope that this is laid to rest.

George Hill's five-year deal with the Indiana Pacers is worth $40 million, according to league source.

That trade gets better all the time.

Congrats to George, but 5/40 is grossly overpaid for what he brings to the table.

:smokin

But damn, $40 million for Hill? He's a good player but no way in hell I'd give Hill $8 million per season.

That's great news for Hill. $40 million for Hill was the absolute max he'd get even in this market and he got it.

P.S.

Thank you Spurs for the Kawhi trade.

Happy for him, really overpaid but since the Spurs weren't the ones who did it, and we got Kawhi on our roster, I'm happy for him.

Good for George but that trade looks amazing for us right now.

He is a good player but 40m/5y is way too much for him. I am glad we traded him.

I've realized that :lol

I think my mouse has a freaking double-click problem (i use an optical from MS) or it's has something to do with my connection. I am traveling right now in Brazil and i use a super slow connection (it's a 3G connection, but in some places it only works as 2G).

Anyway, I am sorry for that. I know it's very annoying.

The owners were killing themselves over superstars. Now they are killing themselves over good mid-level players.

I hope that George will grow into this contract, even if it seems a bit high now.
