Detroit is deservedly getting a lot of love going into tonight's game for being a resilient team having come back from a fight situation, suspensions, deficits in playoffs, and a tenuous coaching situation. They have surely earned my respect for bouncing back from adversity.

Yet, San Antonio has also been a very resilient team. They are back in the finals after the 0.4 situation with Fisher and the tough loss to the Lakers, changes of personnel with the departure of fan favorite Malik Rose, the importation of now starting starter Mohammed Nazr, the injury to Rasho Nasterovic, and most importantly the injury of both ankles to Tim Duncan. The second ankle injury was a gruesome sight and hobbled Tim Duncan into the first round of the playoffs.
They hung tough with the Duncan injuries and finished with a strong second seed in the West, holding off the surging Dallas Mavericks to get a "favorable match up in the playoffs". Yeh right!

It got them the opportunity to face the surging Nuggets who entered the playoffs with the best record in basketball over the last two months. They lost game one. Yet, in a resilient fashion, the Spurs rebounded to take a 4 to 1 series, got tied up by a gritty Sonic team but won out in 6, then beat the top seeded Suns at their own game in 5.

Never, seemingly a media favorite the Spurs have somehow been resilient in the marketplace, retaining their three core stars of Parker, Ginobli and Duncan from the free agency market.

They have sustained a model franchise and may well win their 3rd title tonight - we shall see. If so, like the Pistons this team will have earned it.
