Now that you've all had a couple days to blow off some steam and regain your sanity, who do you think takes it in a Heat-Thunder Finals? Who do you want to win? Who will be the Finals MVP?

The important thing is that there's always next season. Sure, the Spurs were 15 minutes away from #5, but the sun will come out tomorrow.

I don't really care. I'll root for Boston as they are the most likely to get screwed like the Spurs. Since I stayed up late enough times here in the EST watching the "Western" time slotted games I don't plan to do any more of that. Past my bedtime and all. The one hour replays on NBA TV are pretty good though.

I'll be on the road for work the next couple of weeks. I may turn the games on in the hotel room while doing some evening work. I certainly won't be at a sports bar watching must less glued with any interest.

I would like to see someone grab Harden by that beard and flail his limp body up and down against the court, but since that is unlikely will largely rely on the highlights should that occur.

Heat wins, LeBron MVP. Although Idk if LeBron winning is what stern wants. Durant is considered the Golden Boy now

Indeed. The saddest thing though is that this was the best shot these guys will get at another ring. I only see OKC getting better from here. And the Spurs were soooooo good (unexpectedly), playing such amazing basketball, and then the juggernaut ran into a buzzsaw named Durant.

Yes, the sun will keep coming up and it's just a stupid fucking game, but this one will hurt for a while. It's up there with 2004 and 2006.

i'm getting slightly better over the loss. i think the one play that pisses me off the most was when that bitch Westbrook nailed Kawhi right in the head and it was a turnover. just seeing replays of it on youtube gets me angry as hell, Eric Bana/Munich style. Kawhi is turning into my favorite player and I can't stand Westbrook and his TMNT face. That not only should have been a flagrant but the fourth foul for Westbrick. How the ref who was standing there missed it, i don't know.

I really want to see Lebron win it this year. I'll never support a team with Fisher on it or a team that just beat the Spurs, plus seeing Lebron finally win one would upset the Kobe kum guzzlers, so hopefully it's finally Lebron's time.

So, I guess all the Lebron nut huggers think the Spurs would get swept by the Heat -- since we were dominated by the Thunder in those last 4 games.

What does it matter now if they get beat? We are not there so who cares what they think and who cares who wins it bruh. It's not that serious.

This season/postseason is clearly fixed in favor of OKC.

Predicting outcomes in the NBA is no longer just about deciding which team has the better players, the best coaching, the best strategies, and who matches up the best. . .but it's about which team is more marketable, more hyped, and more preferred by David Stern and the NBA front office.

I was skyping with a bunch of friends during the NBA Draft lottery, and everyone was betting on who was going to win the lottery. I guaranteed the Hornets were going to win it because I was positive the NBA fixes the draft (among other things, such as playoff series). Everyone said I was crazy because they were 4th. . .sure enough, the only team out of the entire lot of 16 that even moved up a single spot was the Hornets, and they leapfrogged the top 3 most likely teams to win the lottery to get the top pick. I wasn't surprised at all.

Just like when the Finals is over, the league-preferred team will win it. As it is, three of the top 5 most hyped teams in the entire NBA are magically who's left. The only ones who aren't left were defeated by other league-hyped teams (OKC beat LA, Miami beat NY). No matter who wins at this point, the NBA got who they wanted. My guess is that it's going to be OKC due to the pathetic and blatent game fixing against the Spurs in the WCF, but I wouldn't be surprised if they let Miami win it to cement their superteam status.

Either way it's a win/win for the NBA in terms of a marketing and money-making standpoint. Too bad legit teams don't have a chance anymore in this bogus ass league. Anyone who thought otherwise (including me) was a fool to think Stern and the rest of the "nobles" would allow a normal season to unfold as it's recovering from a strike. We were just naive.

Maybe they won't fix next season. And maybe I don't give a shit anymore. The "journey" isn't worth shit if the end is fucking tainted with corruption and fixed outcomes.

It's like someone died. Barely even sinking in. At first I tried to ignore it, tried not letting it get to me. Today it started feeling like a funeral, literally. Yes, it's just basketball.

But it's my team. It was our year, it really was. I really wanted Manu to get one more ring.

Fuck the NBA, the corrupt fucking fraud that it is. Fuck OKC, Fuck Miami. I'm rooting for Boston, but we already know the fix is in and bitch ass Lebron is going to the Finals, escorted by piece of shit David Stern himself.

You were fooled by the fools gold season. One look at the Spurs roster and you will see too weak of a frontline that is not a championship level team.

The spurs did well to get as far as they did and had to get lucky playoff matchups to get there. The Lakers for sure or even Memphis like last year could have beaten the Spurs if they met up in earlier playoff rounds. The Spurs were not that much different of a team than they were from last season.

Jackson and Diaw were slight upgrades but not enough of a difference maker in the end.

I'm going fine tbh

that was a hell of an unexpected season ! First time in a long time, the spurs were healthy too bad it was a couple of years too late.

I don't know who to root for, in that case it will come naturally after the first 5 mn of game 1, I'll start rooting for one team unconsciously.

F the Heat and Thunder.

I already started watching Spurs old games I have on tape. I'm glad I keep a VCR :lol

Yesterday I saw Spurs-Rockes game 3 from 1995 WCF. Spurs won with big game from Robinson and Elliott. Del Negro made some big shots too. Olajuwon was amazing with 41 and a very young and athletic Horry was making 3s and dunking like crazy

I'm glad I erased games 5 and 6 of that series. :)

Since Game 6, I am feeling a certain way towards the league in a whole. It's extremely frustrating as a fan, and I'm really done with all of it that's not Spurs related. I'm not even that mad at the guys, they fought and fought and were denied.

That said, I really don't care who wins this year. I really don't like Miami at all, but I'd hope they beat OKC. In fact, a perfect scenario would be Boston overcoming the odds tonight and beating OKC.

But in a shortened season, where money was lost, there's no way that will happen. OKC/Miami= Ratings and some mediocre quality basketball.

Call me bitter, but it is what it is. lol

Heat and Lebron. Eventhough nobody really cares about the Heat or Lebron anymore. NBA doesn't know what its doing anymore.

J.T.

Didn't really think of the money lost by the lockout being a contributing factor to giving the Thunder three extra players on the court at any given time during the playoffs. It's like the NBA allowed the Spurs to hit that 20 game milestone and then said "if you like streaks so much we got you."

League putting OKC in the Finals makes sense now. In 1999, Michael Jordan had just retired and the quality of ball played that season was so shitty they surely didn't care and just let the Spurs steamroll. With the Heat up 2-0 and the percentage of series wins that comes with that kind of lead, the league obviously felt obliged to help the Thunder out of their 0-2 hole on the way to a backdoor sweep. Kevin Durant played lights out, he's pretty much the only Thunder player that has my respect. Stephen Jackson getting a technical foul for starting at the sideline when Perkins was noted for staring at the TNT sideline booth in Game 3 and Harden caught doing it to various people and players at random times makes the whole thing sour to me.

In the words of the immortal Mr. French, "This is America. You don't make money, you're a fuckin' douchebag."

The Spurs don't make money.

Not too bad, work and commuting keeps me busy.

But the loss of the fun and pleasure of the games, and anticipation before the games, does hurt. 4th qtr Game6 was an extremely distasteful way to go out. OKC was better, but the Spurs played some fantastic quarters in the series, and still could have brought it back to SA.

J.T.
06-09-2012, 02:17 PM
As for the Finals I would prefer the Eastern Conference designate to win at any cost. Only post-1999 team to ring after eliminating Spurs from playoffs is the Shaq Lakers, a fairly dominant squad. Since 2004 no team that has eliminated the Spurs has rang.

SenorSpur
06-09-2012, 02:47 PM
It's hard to admit but the Spurs simply ran into a better team. It really sucks because, for a while there, it looked like the Spurs were the team of destiny for that elusive 5th title. It's still kind of hard to believe it's over, but watching the backdoor sweep, of them losing 4 straight games, gave me time to prepare for the inevitable.

I will watch the Finals and hope OKC puts down whomever is their opponent. After that, I'm turning my attention to the draft and free agency.

been pretty busy, I don't get sad so much as sentimental when I think about it. I always have a bit trouble believing the season's actually over, but I'm already fantasizing about next year- Kawhi and Jack getting big minutes, any surprise signings, who knows what we can get with the 60th pick. I really really think we have a shot again. Not better than OKC, but I'm looking forward to another crack at it.
